16/12/2024: We had dinner at the La Dolce Vita restaurant-pizzeria in San Cataldo, a small village in the province of Mantua, immersed in the peaceful Mantuan countryside. Despite the somewhat isolated location, we easily found parking nearby. The entrance to the restaurant, rather discreet, does not immediately give the impression of being the right entrance, but once inside you find yourself faced with a welcoming and well-kept environment, with a warm and familiar atmosphere. The white tables, well set, help to create a truly intimate and homely atmosphere.
For the first courses, following the chef's advice, we opted for cappellacci with squid ink stuffed with salmon and cod fondue, and octopus Luciana style. The octopus were very tender, tasty without being excessively salty, with excellent quality raw materials, immersed in a rich and delicious sauce that went perfectly with the croutons. The cappellacci, delicate and never intrusive, offered the perfect balance between the delicate flavor of the salmon and the right flavor of the cod: a very successful dish.
We continued with a mixed fry of fish and vegetables, prepared with a light and crunchy batter. The portion was just right to complete the meal, with the vegetables which, in addition to being tasty, helped to balance the fatty part of the fried food. The fish was fresh and of high quality.
To conclude, we let ourselves be tempted by a pistachio tiramisu which turned out to be truly excellent: despite being a generous portion, it was light and irresistible, so much so that one teaspoon led to another.
The service was impeccable: fast, kind and professional. In conclusion, I would strongly recommend the La Dolce Vita restaurant-pizzeria to anyone who wants to enjoy quality dishes in a quiet and familiar environment, with trained and courteous staff.
