The pane cunzatu is the best. I've been coming to this bakery for years, it's always open, a unique place, today at 9 in the morning a wonderful bread that I couldn't resist.

The pane cunzato isn't what it used to be... Too salty and the bread is overcooked.
Even the outdoor space, which used to be lush with vegetation, is now bare.
What a shame!

Everything about our experience here was perfect. So perfect that we visited two days in a row. We would have come every day but sadly they are not open during the week during the low season.
Both yesterday and today we enjoyed the Pane Cunzatu, a local and life-affirming sandwich. Today we also enjoyed their sfincione, an airy light and delicious bread made from an ancient “mother dough” topped with tomatoes onions and herbs. It’s hard to describe the sensation that ran through my blood, bones and taste buds with each bite but I can tell you that their sfincione is very special and represents generations of perfection.
Lastly, I want to thank the lovely people that bake and serve the bread and sandwiches for educating me on their foods and process, for suggesting local sights to enjoy, and for being so welcoming. We are grateful and look forward to returning.

We went to this "bakery" on the recommendation of a tour guide. There was a bit of a wait. Everything was written in Italian, and the waiter didn't really make an effort. We got our hot food quickly and sat on the small, shaded terrace just across the street. We ordered a little bit of everything to try the specialties. It was quite good.

We arrived in Scopello on Friday,
and they immediately recommended eating at the wood-fired oven.
The pane cunzato was excellent, and the arancini and sfincione were also delicious.
If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.
