First night arriving in Maniago, Italy was late and tiring so I just wanted to get a meal at a local restaurant within walking distance to where I’m staying. This restaurant was just 3 blocks away and was still open, so dinner here was the plan. There was one other table seated, which turned out to be the owner and his girlfriend. The decor was typical of a rustic Italian restaurant, which was a nice welcome from long flight.
Service was wonderful and attentive. We were greeted instantly and warmly welcomed like we weren’t tourist visiting. Unfortunately the first couple of items we ordered were unavailable. Since it was late and I was very tired, I didn’t remember to take any pictures of the menu, so I won’t have the correct menu names (in Italian) for the dishes we ordered.
The grilled lamb skewers were delicious. The prawn scampi were really good as well. The stewed mussels were well flavored, but overcooked to the point that the mussels had shrunken. The seafood pasta was disappointing, which surprised me as I’ve not really ever had a disappointing pasta in Italy (only one other time).
Since it was late, we skipped dessert but our server made sure we had a welcome shot of Limoncello! She was such a wonderful server and made the experience more memorable.
