Osteria Pane e Vino In Vicalvi

Ragu gnocchi outstanding. House wine is great. Hospitality is outstanding from the beautiful ladies running the establishment. The locals dining there all seem to be sitting on 5ft sticks up there :) when they see a foreigner. It’s free to smile!

We wandered into Pane e Vino near the end of their lunch service. Wow! What a wonderful surprise! This is an authentic local osteria with limited but expertly prepared menu. Everything was delicious. The pasta was al dente, cooked in a slightly spicy pomodoro sauce that you couldn't get enough of. The house vino and bread were divine too. My husband's coniglio and my chicken were perfectly baked paired with fresh salad -- healthy and yummy! We had to skip dessert and the espresso shot because we had an appointment to get too but they looked good too. Get there by 2pm for lunch, although another group came in at 2:15 and were seated. Very reasonable priced - a local lunch spot near Fontechiari - and sparkling clean too. Must try if in the area. We'll be back!

You can only eat by reservation, meaning that simply reserving a table isn't enough... We discovered that if you then want to eat appetizers you have to reserve them... well... anyway, the food was good but very, perhaps, too seasoned and lacking in variety, a modest trattoria.

We stopped at this restaurant (there were four of us) without a reservation because we were passing through. We were greeted kindly, although we were told we'd have to wait a bit before being able to eat, as the wait was a bit long (considering the crowds). The wait was acceptable and not as long as expected. Lunch was very plentiful and characterized by authentic and traditional flavors: bucatini all'amatriciana, tripe alla romana, chicken in beer, and mixed salad and friggitelli peppers as sides. Local red wine, which was appreciated, along with water, coffee, and limoncello. The interior is tidy and simple, typical of an osteria. Parking is available outside. The quality/price ratio is fair! We'll be back. Recommended.

Discovered by chance on Google, quiet and welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food, generous portions. I've been back a second time and will definitely be back many more times in the future. Highly recommend, but it's best to book a couple of days in advance. After leaving, I also recommend a nice walk around Lake Posta Fibreno. (Fr)

Abundant and authentic cuisine. Excellent experience.

At first, we were told we'd have to wait half an hour to be served, and the ladies there seemed a bit unfriendly, but then we quickly changed our minds. The lovely and friendly lady even offered us a typical local dish while we waited. The food? Delicious! Generous portions, and the pasta was delicious... not to mention the chicken in beer! I don't like main courses, but I devoured it so much. The value for money is truly excellent... you can't eat this well without spending a lot these days. If you're passing through or in the surrounding area, I absolutely recommend stopping here! Recommendation? Gnocchi with mushrooms and asparagus, and Chicken in Beer.

Delicious!! Quality local cuisine from a true local osteria. Excellent first courses, exceptional fettuccine! The free-range rabbit is top notch!!!

I ate at this restaurant on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Everything was good: the gnocchi with ragù were delicious, the meatballs with sauce, and the chicken in beer sauce were equally delicious. The price was fair. A word of advice to the lady taking orders: be less anxious. Telling a newly arrived customer that it will take a while to eat, when in reality it wasn't, makes a bad impression. Otherwise, everything was fine. I'll definitely be back.

Highly recommend a visit here if you are looking for beautiful, traditional, Italian food with locals. No tourists in sight apart from me! 🤣 Perfetto!
