"A tasty haven among shadows and wonders"
An overall positive experience, albeit with a few downsides. The prices aren't the friendliest, and the restaurant's great reputation risks being a bit over the top. To find a table, you need to be patient, pray a lot, or arrive way too early. The owner alternates between grumpy and less-than-welcoming tones, in keeping with the restaurant's name. Service is extremely slow and sparse, and the space is small, creating a very annoying reverberating effect, making it extremely loud.
That said, the place is worth it. The cuisine is solid and authentic, and especially the octopus granfia appetizer is worth the visit: a gigantic portion, full and authentic flavor, and very simple preparation—oil, lemon, parsley—but masterfully executed. It's the restaurant's strong point and the main reason many return.
In short: there are a few flaws in the overall experience, but the quality of the signature dish makes up for it. Recommended, especially for those who want to try one of the best octopus dishes in the area.

I went for lunch (November 16th) with my family, we ate really well. The atmosphere was very nice and well-kept, the service was excellent, especially the girls serving us who were friendly and cheerful. Many thanks to all the staff at MANGIAFOCO, highly recommended and we will gladly return.

I would have given it 6 stars.
Rustic, family atmosphere, a classic osteria.
Simple, well-renovated restaurant, clean, family-run, welcoming, and always smiling despite being crowded and very busy.
Excellent seafood, well-cooked, simple but of excellent quality.
Very reasonable price.
Highly recommended for those looking for good food without the formality of a restaurant.

A fusion of art and passion, a pinch of irony and a hint of authenticity. The food is excellent and the dishes are generous.

We return every year; it's a must-visit, and despite the large group, it's never disappointed us, neither in terms of the location (they always find a solution if you're patient enough to wait) nor in terms of the quality. Despite the outdoor veranda, the place isn't that big, and it's always packed with people waiting, and perhaps there's a reason: the quality of the fish is spectacular and expertly prepared by "Mangiafuoco."
Of course, there are waits, as it's always busy, but with company and the generous portions that arrive, you can enjoy a few breaks between courses. 😅 Mangiafuoco is a guarantee and has never disappointed us. And their octopus is truly fantastic!!!
It's obvious that it's a restaurant that lives up to its name: an osteria, one of those genuine and authentic ones, not what some might expect: a Michelin-starred restaurant where they change your cutlery and serve you wine, but the quality and conviviality it ensures are always worth it!

Wow, very delicious food, especially the spicy octopus as well the typical Tuscan dishes. We and our kids loved it, our kids are still hungry for the clams fritto misto. Best lunch without any tourists🫣 only locals 👍 bellissima e tippitoppi

Excellent osteria in the heart of Piombino. We arrived without a reservation, but they quickly found us a table outside. The mussels marinara and fritto misto were truly delicious. The service was more than adequate, considering it's an osteria... definitely worth a try if you're in the area.
