A Hidden Gem Worth the Journey If you're looking for truly authentic Italian food, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Osteria La Piazzetta. Tucked away off the beaten path, it’s absolutely worth the detour. We originally visited because my grandmother was born in Valle Dell’Angelo, but we’ll return again and again because of the people who welcomed us like family. It was my husband's first time in Italy, and he said this was the best food of our entire trip. Everything was local, fresh, and made with such care. Carmela is a genius in the kitchen — she crafts each course based on what’s in season and available that day. The result is a meal that’s both intimate and unforgettable. This isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. Please make the trip!

La Piazzetta is a true culinary treasure tucked away in the peaceful village of Valle dell'Angelo. Returning to this place is always a wonderful surprise where you find the warmth of the welcome, the professionalism, the passion, the naturalness of how things are done, the hard work and the dreams that are never abandoned. Carmela, Alì, Francesco, Jacopo and not least Raji and many others, make this place enchanting, familiar, unique, to say the least rare in a setting of a country condemned to depopulation, they manage to attract like no other, only with the policy of doing, daring, risking, being active and not chattering in the square. A group of American friends on a trip tasted the delights of Carmela and the welcome of Alì. The freshness of the food but, above all, felt the flavors of each ingredient that Carmela uses for her magic. They did not want to leave anymore continuing to tell how that lunch was unique in their life. If this passion, professionalism and attachment to the origins, to one's country, were put into action by everyone or at least by the many local administrators of Cilento, things could change significantly for our land. The road that leads to the Piazzetta is a bit challenging, but as soon as you arrive, the welcome that Ali, Carmela and Francesco know how to give you, you immediately understand that the experience you are about to have is something uncommon. You enter a microcosm and an almost fairy-tale atmosphere where people, children, elderly people, dogs (free to be dogs) happily share the same spaces. Ali is the linchpin that makes you live a dream he desired and that he knows how to transmit with passion and kindness. You almost forget that you are there also to taste the products of Francesco's farm until Carmela enchants you with her authentic dishes that take you back in time. In short, you feel at home welcomed and pampered as rarely happens. I don't know what other words to add to this reality that has more to offer than one could expect. You sleep in the rooms of the scattered hotel and after the splendid breakfast prepared by Carmela's hands you leave reluctantly with the desire to return as soon as possible. A very characteristic restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Cilento cuisine. A pleasant discovery in the heart of the natural park. Reservations are generally required. The menu is fixed, but adjustments can be made for allergies. The service is very friendly and welcoming, and the food was extremely tasty and well-executed. The cost is around €30-40 per person, excluding wine.

Probably one of the best/ if not the best restaurants we’ve been to in the region. Carmela is an excellent cook, creating wonderful dishes with local produce (including olive oil made by a azienda Agricola aurono - must stay if you’re in the area). There was no a la carte menu, we chose vegetarian options and she made four amazing dishes. The staff at the restaurant were delightful and food was reasonably price. Definitely stop by here if you’re in the area!
