FANTASTIC experience...superlative food in a timeless place...absolutely fair prices for the quality and uniqueness of the dishes offered. Only flaw...very small dining room, so you have to book months in advance.

I arrived by chance... I was amazed by the care, attention, and quality of the cuisine. The atmosphere welcomed us as if we were at home. Perfect tablecloths, matching dishes. Thinking it was a small trattoria, the owner surprised us with a gourmet menu, created with so much care and love... each dish explained in minute detail, it could easily have been the menu of a very fine restaurant. Of course, the eight appetizers prevented us from trying anything else, but I loved every dish... and next time I'll choose something else. The last gem... the coffee... strictly from a percolator, served the way my grandmother used to make it... a tray with a coffee pot, milk, and sugar bowl... wonderful. Bravo!

This restaurant is a journey through flavors. There's no à la carte menu, but a selection of daily specials to choose from. It starts with a series of appetizers that build in flavor and savoriness. Then comes the three first courses, from which you can choose one or have a taste of all three. The same goes for the second courses, which were truly delicious: you could choose between pork, veal, and lamb... all extraordinary. I can't comment on the desserts because we didn't order them, having been completely full. All washed down with an excellent Cesanese del Piglio. Highly recommended!!!

If you happen to pass through Piglio, in the province of Frosinone, there's a place you absolutely must try: Pompeo's Osteria del Vicolo Fatato. It's a true gem, a small and welcoming place where the food is truly delicious. The atmosphere is warm, familiar, and a bit rustic...just like the osterias of old. What I was pleasantly surprised by is that there's no printed menu: Pompeo tells you in person what's delicious that day. Each dish is prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and you can taste the love for traditional cuisine, with a creative touch...the food is exquisite, the portions are just right, and you can see the attention to every detail. The service is attentive but never intrusive, and Pompeo knows how to make you feel at home, always with a smile...the prices are fair, which doesn't hurt. My heartfelt advice: it's best to reserve, especially on weekends, because there aren't many seats and the place gets very busy.

We couldn't decide which was the best, because each dish was a masterpiece. The cuisine is authentic, creative and full of love. It is absolutely worth the trip from Rome to Piglio just to eat there. An authentic tavern, where tradition and taste meet perfectly. The menu is varied, built with local and seasonal ingredients. The appetizer was a real journey through flavors: 8 delicious courses, each better than the last. The trio of second courses was excellent, with a truly unforgettable diaphragm stew, very tender and tasty. The local Cesanese wine accompanied everything beautifully. Popular prices and very high quality. An atmosphere of times gone by, welcoming and genuine. Very kind staff. A place I will definitely return to!
