A 100% restaurant, be careful, it's a good idea to make a reservation, Tuscan specialties served a la carte!

We came for the much vaunted Florentine steak...let's say ok. Too much fat (yellow...which tells us a lot about the freshness) and really too many nerves...yes, true the guy came to show it to us and choose but when we raised the "fat" issue he started making a fuss...and so, do you let us choose this steak or not? Well, intimidated (we are fools eh) and not wanting to start a controversy we gave in. Result? Meat that is hard to eat...if we had known we would have bought two slices at Cioni's butcher shop and cooked it at home and it melts in the mouth

Suggested by the host of our b&b and we haven't regreted our choise at all! Bbq mix for 2 was our food choise, potatoes and salad. House wine very tasty and fantastic tiramisu. The view is fantastic and the staff very friendly!!

Good food but orders were poorly managed we were looked after by two waiters, the younger one very good and kind, and his slightly older colleague When we were about to order, the older waiter advised us to not "slow down the kitchen" to make trays of 3/4 different types of pasta, to optimize the time .... everything was wonderful until the time to pay came ... we were 13 people, and for this "favor to the kitchen" we found ourselves with 24 portions of first courses to pay, when in fact there were not even any at the table ... too bad that a first course costs €18 since all the portions were made randomly, even the bill was made randomly, between €130 for appetizers and €432 for 24 portions of first courses, we found ourselves paying €45 per person, for an appetizer, a taste of first courses, a spit of wine and half a dessert ……….. the waiter must have made his boss happy, because with actual 14/15 portions of pasta they charged 24!

Bellissima location,cucina tipica locale di buona qualità con porzioni abbondanti, vino ottimo su consiglio del cameriere. Servizio cordiale e gentile, da riprovare nel periodo estivo per il panorama.

10/07/2025: I had dinner at this restaurant, but only after making a reservation. Even though I was alone, I'd tried several times, but without a reservation, it was always packed. This historic restaurant has two rooms: one with the bar and a few tables, and then a second, larger and more spacious room. The place is clean, as is the small bathroom. The artwork hanging on the walls is also beautiful, with a QR code to find out the artist and price. The staff is always friendly, even when they had to tell me there was no room. They even explained why the ribollita soup, which I'd so much wanted, was missing from the menu: it simply wasn't in season for some ingredients, like cavolo nero. On the other hand, it was tomato season, and therefore the delicious pappa al pomodoro they recommended. I would have had a second course instead of dessert, but after the meat, I was full. The fillet steak was cooked perfectly, rare but not cold all over. The Florentine steak at the adjacent tables was beautiful, but it would have been too much for me on its own. I highly recommend it! It's truly one of the few trattorias that doesn't have a touristy feel. I still recommend booking.

Trattoria La Gargotta

09/07/2025: It's been a while since we've been back to Gargotta, and I think it's changed management. In any case, we ate very well. Excellent steak, excellent tartare, even fried flowers, and amazing desserts. The appetizer platter was perhaps a bit ordinary, and they could use a makeover. Excellent selection of wines and Prosecco. The terrace is perfect for summer evenings, with the background music of frogs that reminds us of the countryside. Discreet and informal service.
08/07/2025: Trattoria La Gargotta is a superb restaurant. I went there for dinner with four friends. We ate everything, a classic Tuscan/Florentine menu: classic Tuscan appetizer, first course (tagliolini with truffle), second course (grilled rosticciana), with side dishes (sautéed spinach and baked potatoes), and coffee. Everything was VERY GOOD. From start to finish. The service was a bit awkward; they confused the bottle we ordered with a more expensive one. The owner, having already opened it for us, apologized and offered it to us at the same price as the one we ordered. Truly very kind. (Not everyone would do that these days.) The restaurant is located in the Florentine hills, just outside the city, with a splendid terrace overlooking the city, and a very beautiful and characteristic interior. I highly recommend coming for dinner.
