We went to this restaurant for lunch, intrigued by its history. The place is very nice and welcoming. However, the dishes didn't quite meet our expectations. The first courses were tasteless. Specifically, the tagliolini with porcini mushrooms was tasteless. As for the other dishes, nothing was exceptional. Something simple, like the fennel with oranges... the fennel was almost warm, and the fresh oranges were badly cut... A restaurant of a certain level doesn't make basic mistakes like leaving the peel near the orange segments... Otherwise, it was a bit of a disappointment.

🇬🇧 Osteria del Fico Vecchio – between history, energy, and authentic flavors
We stopped at the Osteria del Fico Vecchio during one of the stops on the #eViaggioItaliano project, our itinerant journey with eV-Now!'s photovoltaic mobile kitchen, dedicated to telling the story of a changing Italy through energy and sustainability.
Here we had the pleasure of meeting the Osteria's founder, a man of great culture and vision, who welcomed us enthusiastically and even gave us two copies of his book, a gesture of hospitality that says a lot about the place and its people.
The restaurant is nestled in the greenery of the Roman Hills, in Grottaferrata, in a 16th-century building that was once a post station.
Today, it retains the same charm: exposed beams, stone, glowing fireplaces, and aromas reminiscent of home cooking.
The cuisine is faithful to Roman and Lazio traditions but with a personal touch, from hand-rolled pasta dishes to meat and fish dishes that change with the seasons.
Attentive service, an authentic atmosphere, and a direct connection to the history of the region.
An experience that combines flavors, culture, and innovation, just like our project: to tell the story of an Italy that continues to renew itself, without losing its roots.

🇬🇧 Osteria del Fico Vecchio – where history, energy, and authentic flavors meet
We stopped by Osteria del Fico Vecchio during one of the stages of our #eViaggioItaliano project—the solar-powered mobile kitchen journey by eV-Now!, created to share stories of Italy's transition through energy, people, and sustainability.
Here we had the pleasure of meeting the founder of the Osteria—a man of remarkable culture and vision—who welcomed us warmly and even dedicated two copies of his book to us, a truly kind and meaningful gesture.
The restaurant is nestled in the Roman Hills (Colli Romani), in Grottaferrata, inside a 16th-century building that once served as a postal station.
It still preserves that atmosphere: stone fireplaces, wooden beams and the unmistakable scent of home-style cooking.
The cuisine stays true to Roman and Lazio traditions, featuring fresh handmade pasta and seasonal meat and seafood dishes.
Warm service, a genuine setting, and a strong connection to local heritage.
An experience where flavor, culture and innovation come together — perfectly in tune with our mission: telling the story of an Italy that evolves while staying true to its roots.

We've known this inn for a few years. We've had the pleasure of learning about its history firsthand, as well as the people who made that history possible over time.
The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming. I perhaps prefer the summer version, with the outdoor tables under the trees, but the interior rooms are also very well-kept (if you appreciate detail, pay attention to the flooring). The staff is very competent and attentive, knowledgeable and attentive without being in any way intrusive.
The food is very good, as is the dessert trolley. I recommend the fettuccine with porcini mushrooms this season.
The wine list is also good.
It remains an excellent option for a dinner in the Castelli Romani.

Wonderful lunch! I went to this restaurant with a friend for the first time. Despite it being crowded, the service was very fast and the food was delicious! We were served impeccably by Zigo, a very kind and genuinely friendly person! If you're passing by, ask for him; you won't regret it!
The prices are more than fair considering the quality of the products and dishes. Highly recommended!

I celebrated my daughter's baptism and first birthday there 🩷
Excellent food, fast service, and a quaint location. Claudia was lovely and super helpful with everything, as was Michela.
Everything was beautiful and well-organized.
Highly recommended.

For an outdoor lunch under a gorgeous grapevine pergola, this is the perfect spot! We ate here for lunch a few weeks ago and were extremely satisfied. Delicious food, generous portions, friendly staff, and slightly high prices, but that's understandable considering the location. We'll be back in the spring!

Historic tavern/restaurant. Beautiful medieval building. Food and service are good, but not exceptional, given the setting. Generous portions.
