I don't know if it was just me who would have eaten three more plates because it was so good, or if the portion was small, but in my opinion this was the best pasta I ate during my short time in Rome. Recommended by a Roman friend, I decided to try the gricia, it was phenomenal. Just thinking about it makes me hungry again 😂😂. The waitress who served us was very kind and even explained the specialties to us! Thank you so much.

Discovering it by chance was like opening Pandora's box. The place is small but clean, even though you can tell from the 100-year-old floor. Extremely friendly and approachable staff. Top-notch cuisine, Roman cuisine in the grandma's style. Flavors and aromas long lost that 30-year-olds don't appreciate. Roman-style tripe worthy of a Formula 1 race. Coatella (a kind of cod) so good it's almost unworthy of a rating. Rigatoni alla pajata (a kind of pajata) and coda laal vaccinara (a kind of oxtail stew) are top marks. The rest is just frills. The dishes that made Rome great, with their bold flavors, are the best. A place you can walk to through the charming alleys of San Lorenzo. Forget about parking and driving there. It's a limited traffic zone. However, the food is worth the hassle of getting there. It's definitely worth putting on your top agenda. For the price, it's a place where you go, eat, pay, and if you like it, forget the price and come back; if you don't, it's worth it (as they say in Rome). The rest, such as the furniture, table, equipment, bathrooms, are just frills. IT'S OSTERIA DA MARCELLO.

A place to return to. Great homemade food (the pasta and coda alla vaccinara were a 10/10), excellent service, and the atmosphere of an authentic Italian restaurant. They were very kind and attentive throughout our visit. Highly recommended!

Even though it was an osteria, the dishes were so good looking as if we were in a fusion restaurant. Definitely recommend the truffle potato puree and bruschetta with lardo from the starters. I think it was the chef or the main responsible who were taking care of us that we felt like home. Thank you so much for all the delicious food and hospitality!

Discovered by chance, what luck! We savored and healed dishes prepared with skill and passion; among other things, we were fortunate that the chef was waiting on the tables so he could explain his tasty recipes to us. We had sautéed chicory, truly delicious and plentiful! But such a perfect carbonara is hard to find. The clientele is not only tourists, but also Romans. Very quiet atmosphere and a timeless feel. Truly excellent, family-run! We regret not being able to return these days. But if we return to Rome, we will definitely return.

Spectacular location near San Lorenzo. The appetizers are a must-try, from the cured meats to the exceptional flan.
We went straight for the main courses, and they didn't disappoint. The service was the highlight, with the very friendly staff making us feel at home.

A tiny neighborhood restaurant in San Lorenzo, far from the tourist crowds — and one of the most beautiful dining experiences we had in Rome.
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine smiles. When they heard how much we love Italian food, they were truly happy, and they made us feel at home immediately, as if we were regular guests and not first-time visitors.
They took the time to explain the dishes, came back to ask if everything was good, and treated us with real warmth and care. The atmosphere is small, intimate and homely — the kind of place where you relax the second you sit down.
And the food… the ragù pasta was quite simply the best we have ever had in our lives. No exaggeration.
Next time we’re in Rome, this place is already on our list — no question about it.
If you’re looking for authentic Roman food, human connection, and a true local experience, this is the place.
