This evening we were greeted with immense kindness by the owner.
Since we hadn't booked, we were really hoping to eat here and enjoy his specialties. We were lucky and found a table for two... the staff welcomed us with immense warmth.
The place is very charming and well-kept... I was delighted to try the famous bigoli
prepared with a light yet refined and tasty white ragù; as an appetizer, we enjoyed a platter of local cured meats and cheeses, delicious and beautifully presented.
The owner greeted us with a biscuit and an excellent local liqueur... truly friendly and kind. We will definitely be back... highly recommended!!!

Good food, generous portions, and fair prices: excellent value. Service is fast and the waiters are friendly, making for a pleasant experience.
The welcome remains a bit rustic. There's no wine list, and only white or red wine is offered by the glass. Furthermore, seeing the owner stand on a chair to pick up bottles on display doesn't convey a great deal of professionalism.
Overall, I approve, but with a few small improvements.

The owner's passion for his work is undoubtedly evident. The place is very distinctive, and offers some very unique traditional dishes... perhaps too unique for those coming from outside. My main criticism is the service, which in a place like this should be more attentive and explain the dishes well. Because if I read "polenta" and I'm not from the area, I think of the classic one, just as I can't know that the potato side dish has very little (too little) salt, unlike the bigoli, which were the opposite, so much so that I had to leave them alone. The Venetian-style liver was good, as was the "patienza" dessert.
Unfortunately, all of this was explained to me by the owner, not the waiter, when I ordered, so without that discussion, I would have left with an empty stomach and a bit upset. The prices are fair, and I always thank the owner for discounting the bigoli.
I recommend this place, but not for everyone, for better or worse.

A unique experience near the crooked church of Santa Sofia. We also left feeling a little upset (but the owner was even more upset).
We returned two nights in a row. The cuisine was reminiscent of Venetian tradition, authentic and well-crafted.
A stop we'll gladly repeat if and when we return to Padua!
