Good food with a set menu and reservations required in a fantastic, old-fashioned, yet immaculately kept location. The lady serving is very kind, and there's no wait. The only downside is not receiving a written bill, and having been there twice, I paid the same amount, even though we ordered less food and wine the second time. .

A typical Ladin restaurant located in a historic house (dating back to the 1500s), and the ambiance alone is worth the price of admission. The food is a fixed menu that changes regularly, but always strictly Ladin dishes. The lady who welcomes you is a woman from another era; it truly feels like a journey back in time. Generous portions: first course, two second courses, side dish, dessert, and coffee—all excellent. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place, a true, traditional "hostaria" of Ladin culture. Without the tourist trappings. Located in a small hamlet outside San Vigilio, Pieve di Marebbe, a place lost in time. Dinner is by reservation only, and the dishes are prepared with timeless care by the mother and son who run this beautiful restaurant with love. The menu is fixed, and you choose what to eat when you book. Among the various dishes, I had the pleasure of eating pork ribs cooked for four hours in the oven, naturally at a very low temperature. Poetic. That's why they can't accept guests without a reservation. Everything is handmade and made directly by the two of them without any outside help. All the dishes are delicious: potato and ricotta-filled tortelli, spinach turtles (the best I've ever eaten), pork ribs, baked shank, and a side of mixed vegetables. And to finish, vanilla ice cream with warm raspberries. We ordered one portion for four because we couldn't take it anymore. I recommend, if you have kids, ordering the second course for adults only, and getting a half-portion of the first course as well. Otherwise, you won't be able to get through it and you'll have leftovers. What more can I say? Go for it.

Don't look for a gourmet restaurant. Typical Ladin cuisine, but without frills, and delicious. If you want tradition, courtesy, and a unique atmosphere, you'll find it.

04/04/2025: Es wird ein ansprechendes Degustationsmenü zu einem vernünftigen Preis angeboten, aber auch à la carte ist die Auswahl sehr gut. Besonders erfreulich ist die große Auswahl an guten Weinen. Sehr schön besonders der historische Speiseraum.
08/03/2025: Ambiente gradevole. Servizio professionale e cordiale. Lista vini interessante. Menu di cucina tradizionale e perfettamente eseguita. Certamente un posto valido.

Pensione Ristorante Jaegerhof

14/10/2025: During my visit from September 14-21, 2025, I had a single room with half board. Three other friends stayed in one of the holiday apartments (3 rooms with shared bathroom and living room). A reasonable price comparable to an Alpine Club hut but considerably more comfortable; A simple but cozy room with a balcony, TV, wardrobe, and shower; A sauna area in the basement with a sauna, steam bath, whirlpool, Kneipp pool, and relaxation area; Half board with breakfast featuring muesli, fruit, bread, cold cuts, and jams; and Dinner usually included a salad buffet, primo (pasta, strudel, etc.), secondo (meat, fish), and dessert, although the latter three were varied and different every day during my week at the Jägerhof; a fairly full Sunday buffet; and one evening of a fantastic cheese tasting with fruit and jams. We were also lucky with the weather during the week: drizzle one day before breakfast, but otherwise, sunshine every day. The surrounding hiking area is relatively quiet, even away from the lifts and ski area above Reinswald. Except for the trails from Reinswald to the Latzfonser Kreuz and the Totenkirchl (and Villanderer), I hardly encountered any other hikers. The trails and ridges of Lorenzen-Schrotthorn-Pfannspitz-Jakobsspitz, Muttnellspitz-Hochscheibe-Schönjöchl-Gentersbergspitze-Leiterspitz, and Pfattenspitz-Getrumspitze were particularly pleasantly secluded. I'd love to come back and hope for good weather.
