Mokambo In Mascali

We were traveling with a motorcycle and tent and spent several nights at this campsite – we originally planned to stay just one night, but we extended our stay twice because we loved the location so much. The site is quite basic, but offers plenty of space and electricity for charging your phone or power bank. The restrooms are nothing special, but clean and functional – just what you need. Hot water in the showers is available via a stop-and-go switch, which can be activated with small coins (available at reception for less than 1 euro for 3 minutes). We were particularly impressed by the surroundings: The view of Mount Etna is impressive, and in less than five minutes, you can walk to a small pebble beach, which was pleasantly quiet and perfect for relaxing. Small supermarkets are nearby, and restaurants are also within easy walking distance (all under 20 minutes). Catania is also a quick stop. Overall, a simple but very well-located campsite, perfect for anyone who wants to combine nature, the sea, and proximity to the city. 😊

A must if you want to see Etna, especially in the morning...without clouds, only your own...and opposite is the sea...with fine pebble sand...

A nice campsite for one night. We used it as a stopover while touring Mount Etna. The service was very friendly. I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay. Nice view of the palm trees, but not particularly comfortable.

We spent three nights here in mid-September 2025 with our tent, as we were making two excursions/hikes on Mount Etna from here. In the morning, on a clear day, you have a fantastic view of Mount Etna. The complex is very basic, and the bathrooms are old. But for €24 per night, it's fine. The restaurant, offering excellent value for money, compensated for the omnipresent ants every evening.

I've been camping for many years now, and I've had a wonderful experience and noticed details that a newbie or casual visitor might miss. Let's start with the arrival at the facility. The welcome wasn't bad; the receptionist did her part, but providing a little more information wouldn't hurt. I understand that by the hundredth time you check in, you're tired of repeating the same old story. But there are details, like the coin-operated hot showers, that you can't discover at 7:00 PM when you're in your bathrobe and showering. But, for goodness sake, it's possible that someone might have forgotten (perhaps). The pitches are a bit confusing, it's not clear where you can set up, whether you have to leave a passage for cars that may have to pass to set up after our arrival, so perhaps indicating where you can set up or better yet how you have to set up wouldn't be bad, it's not enough, in my opinion the "You do it..." Cit., Once I've set up I take a look at the campsite, which in my opinion is also very beautiful, but alas, or perhaps woe betide them, it is not used to its full potential (believe me, it has a lot). The showers are mixed, there are no men and women and in my opinion there are not very many, but perhaps the problem is only encountered on weekends in high season. Unfortunately, there are only two bathrooms for each sex and in the men's bathroom there are also two urinals which speed up the queues. The area is shaded by trees and is quite large, mostly willows, and you can manage to find a shaded spot. The property includes a restaurant/pizzeria that also serves as a breakfast bar, and a small childcare area, though it's not very usable during the day due to lack of shade. In conclusion, the property is worth it, the prices are fair for the amenities offered, and I believe that with a little more foresight, this property could become a point of reference for locals like me, rather than just another establishment like thousands for tourists passing through and perhaps never returning. I think I'll return from time to time, and I hope to meet the owner so I can share my thoughts.

Beautiful, spacious campsite with lots of natural shade. Great starting point for visiting Etna. The beach is a minute away, well-maintained, the view is wonderful. The young receptionist is very friendly! The toilets are old, but very clean, the lady who cleans is there non-stop. There is a restaurant in the campsite with excellent food. We had a great time.

Top location: there is the view of Etna on one side and beach on the other. It would be nice if the owner would’ve invested in toilet seats, toilet paper and soaps. It could make amazing camping out of what they have BUT despite it, everything is kept clean all the time. The shower is 0.7 cents - buy the coins at reception. It is livable. They have simple restaurant on site and it has good coffee. We ate pizza, pasta and shells, everything was tasty.

The campground has many advantages. It also has a few disadvantages, but overall, I rate the entire stay positive. The restaurant and campsite staff are first-class. The downsides are the noisy campsites and the toilets, which date back to the 1980s. The price, location, and, of course, the aforementioned staff and restaurant are definitely pluses. I recommend it, and good luck with your future caravanning endeavors.

It was uncomplicated and the atmosphere was relaxed. The price was fair, too. It's simple, but that's exactly what we wanted. I was there in April and can recommend it.
