15/10/2025: If you pass by Portoferraio, visit its very beautiful forts, it's a shame that Napoleon's residence is closed

08/10/2025: We were here in September 2025 and started our circular walk from Portoferraio's harbor toward Forte Stella and then to Forte Falcone. An entrance fee of €10 grants access to this complex. It is very large and offers fantastic views in all directions (see pictures). Built by Cosimo II, it provided both visual and visual protection from the Ottomans. It also offered protection from an attack by a feared pirate. After seeing it from outside, the pirate abandoned an attack on behalf of the French king. It is beautifully preserved and offers a path through this part of Portoferraio. From there, you can't get enough of the blue sea, the town itself, and the surrounding area. We really liked it.
