Perfect tasting experience with Lewis at Maude. He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate (but not wanky). We didn’t book and quickly popped in right when they opened, they squeezed us in for a tasting of 7 wines from their multiple vineyards in Otago. Their Pinot Noir selection was unbelievable, and we took a couple of bottles home with us (which were very reasonably priced for the quality). We sat in the sun on an outdoor table overlooking the mountains and lake, and it was a dream. Thanks for having us!

Outstanding tasting experience at Maude. The line-up was genuinely impressive. For the level of craftsmanship in the wines, the pricing felt remarkably reasonable. A special mention goes to Lewis, who was exceptional throughout. He guided us through the tasting with clarity, passion, and an infectious energy that elevated the whole experience. His knowledge and enthusiasm brought each wine to life and made the visit memorable.

We had an amazing time at the wine tasting with Lewis. Definitely a highlight of our trip and we will definitely come back when in town.

Such a fun wine tasting! Lewis was an amazing guide and we learned a lot about the region’s wine. We got to try almost all of the wines they offer!

Lewis just made the wine tasting. Fun, knowledgeable, entertaining and engaging a very engaging and convivial host, so much so we spent another 3 hrs drinking the wines with a lovely maude platter, admiring the views in the NZ sunshine . Sadly due to our travel restrictions we were unable to purchase any wines.

Amazing tasting experience! Lewis and the whole team were phenomenal and super knowledgeable. The wines were so great and so unique to the Otago region - sitting on their terrace having a glass of wine looking over the mountains and lake was a highlight. Couldn’t recommend more!

It’s thanks to passionate people like Lewis that this tasting will stay in our memories! We had booked a tasting slot and were warmly welcomed by Lewis. The hospitality was excellent — we comfortably waited in the restaurant before starting. The tasting began with their sparkling wine, often referred to as their “house champagne,” and ended beautifully with the rosé. The wines were presented with great clarity, the terroir is outstanding, and Lewis explained everything brilliantly. He answered all our questions with ease, shared figures, stories, and technical insights — he truly knows his craft. Professional, cheerful, witty, and full of energy, he created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout. A true enthusiast whom I sincerely thank for his positivity, and I wish him all the best in his future adventures!
