Was there this Saturday evening, just the two of us. It's a medium sized place that is far more than just a pizzeria. Went in without a reservation but the owner found us a table after a little persuasion. We were the first but it soon filled up with locals and we were the only tourists. The antipasti choice was ok but the gnocchi and meatballs were great. Wine was more expensive than other recent experience, €19 for a bottle of organic pecorino, but it was very nice. What we loved was the fact it was packed with local families making a right din as they chatted. No music required! Two starters, two main courses and the wine for €50 is pretty good in my book and I'd go again 😊

The food was good, the atmosphere was typically Italian, loud, lots of conversation, nice... but the guy who added I don't know what to the bill... pay attention to that. It might be a coincidence, but in a few days in Rome, this is the second time someone has added a ghost to the bill. Maybe it's a habit they've developed when they sense a foreigner.

We were tempted by the opportunity to eat traditional dishes and Neapolitan pizza, but that wasn't the case. As you can see from the photos, the montanarine are the same size as the small red puff pastry pizzas found at buffets, not the width and height of the classic Neapolitan pizzas—soft, tall, and tasty. The mozzarella in carrozza (a kind of stuffed mozzarella) is also far from the traditional classic, but overall not bad. We wanted pasta, potatoes, and provola, but were told it wasn't available that day, so we all opted for pizza, since the domed wood-fired oven is clearly visible at the entrance. We were disappointed with this too. Two of us chose the pizza with a ricotta-filled crust, as you can see from the photos and video. The only filling was the smell, absolutely far from typical Neapolitan. The pizza, both in terms of dough and cooking, was far from authentic; it was hard at the base, with a very shallow crust, not soft, and hard to digest. Obviously, we didn't order dessert to avoid further disappointment. We understand that, name aside, the staff is absolutely not Neapolitan and therefore obviously you can't get the type of cuisine promised: a shame.

Caffè Lido

24/08/2025: A great place to enjoy a perfect cup of coffee and take a rest while waiting for a transfer. The staff are friendly and helpful. It’s just a regular café near the station, so I didn’t expect much from it, but luckily it cheered me up with a really delicious cup of coffee.
