I have a soft spot for these kinds of places, which Italy seems to have a knack for. Forget the idea of Muiderslot, for example. It's more like a walled village, but everything exudes history. The story of this "castle" flows from the stones of the houses and the access bridge. It's a lovely way to while away half an hour, and especially for the romantic.
