04/02/2024: An excellent experience, refined location, excellent service, the cuisine cannot be described... it must be tried but it is impossible to be disappointed, every bite is an unprecedented sensorial experience!
28/01/2024: Taverna Estia was an experience more than just a restaurant. It certainly has few equals in food, we were thrilled by the continuous crescendo of emotions that dish after dish arrived at the table. The cubes with artichokes are the best dish in our opinion. But also very good are the spaghetti with papaccelle cream, the aperitifs, the trout, the tuna. Everything spectacular. The location is very nice, the room was perhaps a little cold, especially towards the end of the evening when the fire in the fireplace had faded. Since "feedback is a gift", I would like to say 2 words about the service, which in my opinion has some points to improve and which if it remained like this could perhaps put the second star at risk, considering a comparison with other two-starred ones. In my opinion, 50 minutes of waiting between sitting at the table and the first aperitifs is too much, they could perhaps think of serving the amuse bouche immediately. Or bring the bread right away along with the water. In short, do something to avoid leaving people sitting and waiting. Another thing that in my opinion could be improved is the fact that the bread was served at a later time compared to the breadsticks and the rest of the bakery, in other starred hotels I have seen that they usually bring the entire bakery service immediately, giving time to taste the oil or butter. In our case, bread with oil together with the first course brought a bit of a rush. Let's leave aside some small carelessness in the service during the evening, given that mistakes can happen, the point that could perhaps be contested is that they could have offered some bitters as compensation. In a 2 star hotel, where you expect the best, it would have been nice. And probably a more in-depth explanation of the wine list, in our case we were brought a 100-page bible, explaining the difference between glasses and bottles, but in a 2 star hotel you would expect some advice or introduction like: "on your menu there are many fish dishes, we will recommend a white of this type." These are small things which, added together, in my opinion, could influence the judgment of Micheline judges in the future which I certainly believe they expect to happen in a 2 star hotel. Price 600 euros for 2 people, without a matching wine list, but with 2 glasses, I think the prices are in line with other 2 star hotels.
