Le Tagghiate In Lecce

09/08/2024: Despite the mixed reviews, I ignored the negative and took a chance. And what a good decision!!! Nice and close from Lecce, wonderfully quiet (Friday in August!) and without reservation a parasol with two beds available for 25 euros per day. Started with a simple lunch (panini with ham and cheese) while there were also plenty of other (hot) dishes on the menu. (We're still Dutch after all 😄) After an afternoon of sunbathing, we wanted a hot meal (too early), but the kitchen was still closed for dinner. It was then suggested that we first have a small snack from the chip shop and then join us for dinner after 8 p.m. Great plan! The snack was already tasty (fried potato in a “chips”-like way) But dinner was absolutely excellent!! The tuna in a sesame seed crust surrounded by grilled vegetables was a joy to see and very tasty! The spaghetti with clams was a surprise for me because I indicated that I did not like mussels and wanted something like tomatoes on the spaghetti. When the owner heard this, he immediately asked me if I didn't like fish at all. It was his suggestion to replace the mussels with the “vongole”. Once again I took the gamble and was once again positively surprised. Excellent beach restaurant with delicious food and very attentive and friendly staff.
