We were guests with my wife and my 4 year old son in the Pilone by Rare structure on 01.12.2024. The place, in terms of setting, is absolutely fantastic with a view of the strait that has few equals on the entire Calabrian coast. The restaurant, built within the area around the Pilone of the Santa Trada area, is charming, very bright and rather clean with very large windows overlooking the Strait of Messina and can currently only be reached from the motorway exit of the same name (Santa Trada). present the north direction and covering a short stretch of about 2km uphill. Along the route there is a first large car park and, continuing higher up (about another 300m), there is a service entrance with a smaller car park reserved for the management and a few customers, but which proved to be very useful on the day of the our visit where the weather conditions were really unfriendly and the air was quite cold. Upon entering we had a warm welcome from all the staff and, asking the waiter for information about the business, we were told that the property was taken over this year (2024) by new managers who are managing other structures restaurants, but in the city of Reggio Calabria. Regarding lunch, we were really surprised not only by the excellent quality of the products and the refinement and variety of the dishes with delicacies and recipes typical of their cuisine, but also by the generous quantity of the dishes, including an abundant and varied starter. A combination no longer easily found in today's venues in recent times. No digestive problems encountered in the following days, not even by my wife who suffers from reflux, confirming the excellent quality of the products. What else can I say? Place promoted with flying colors and, I must admit, to our absolute surprise having chosen it after having had some word of mouth suggestions since the online reviews are few and not updated. Absolutely accessible prices in relation to what is proposed and offered. We were told that in addition to the restaurant service there is also a pizzeria service, but it only works in the evening. Congratulations to the new managers and if you continue like this you will certainly have great satisfaction.
