At the edge of the fields stands an impregnable fort of taste imperturbably. From its height rise the unusual fragrances resulting from peasant wisdom and the squeezing of never tamed humours; of those who have never surrendered to the modernity of the time. To enter into his graces I look for obligatory openings that limit my gaze and sharpen my senses. The cypress trees monitor my movement, rubbing each other and releasing an acrid smell. As in a daydream I reach the fortress insensitive to the passage of foreigners. My light step reaches my taste craving where time brings me back to ancient flavours. At the tavern I am welcomed by wise fortune tellers who, with their potions and remedies, try to divine my gut choices. In a riot of mushrooms just domesticated from the freshly cut pasta, the parsley appears, the symbol and quirk of the creator of the dish. And like a painter he creates the dense custard, a clash and meeting of loaded yolks and dormant starch, brushing it on the palette where crumbly shortcrust pastry and toasty pine nuts break down the certainties of ancient recipes. The painting adapts to the environment and followers of distant worlds and flavors tempt me by completing the work with intense and unusual essences. The local pressing of intense purple-red grape berries leaves room for warm yellows which heighten the acidity typical of humid caves. The Mayan gold burned by expert hands is cauterized by the milking of local cows. The painting comes to life by modifying the consistencies and colors of the brushstrokes so as to resemble our own ponches in which the sails unfold in citrus scents.
I close the pedestal and the constructed image is so clear that the frame is not necessary.

Top lunch with sublime dishes, all accompanied by superlative wines. The staff, Niccolò and Giuseppe spoiled us with their attention, making us spend an unforgettable day in Bolgheri that we will remember for a long time!

On the advice of friends (and this already means a lot) we went to this restaurant or rather call it that...' TAVERNA DEL PITTORE' located in a wonderful place 'Bolgheri', where we found a warm, intimate... special atmosphere... .soft light, elegant music that accompanies the dinner to enjoy dishes and wine prepared for every need….all this if you let yourself be carried away by the experience and professionalism of GIUSEPPE, a true and great connoisseur.

Rapporto qualità prezzo scarso.
Il pasto non è stato niente di entusiasmante a prezzi stratosferici.
Bolgheri è caro come posto ma ci sono locali dove ho mangiato meglio e speso meno.

Locale molto piccolo, intimo, piacevole, ottimo per fare una cena in coppia dove si viene coccolati dall'ottimo servizio di sala, i piatti sono curati, i vini ricercati, la musica in sottofondo è perfetta per incoronare una serata romantica e da gustare... Poi arriviamo noi 8: 2 adolescenti, 2 bambini e 4 adulti che non disdegnano questo ottimo cibo e l'ottimo vino... Insomma abbiamo un poco disturbato gli altri tavoli, siamo un po' troppo goliardici (soprattutto io) ma devo dire che ci hanno sopportato e ci siamo trovati benissimo. Ci torneremo? Se ci vorranno, sicuramente si. Iper consigliato, un locale di verità in un luogo che solitamente è votato solo al turista di passaggio... Qua ti senti bene, complimenti.

Location with a nice atmosphere
Nothing to say about the quality of the food, all very good..The flaw is that in a restaurant where you don't spend a lot and that the owner was unprofessional in not asking us for a list of desserts or a coffee since he wanted to close just because I was there. and my boyfriend didn't even have time to enjoy the last sip of wine which didn't cost little. Beautiful little place in the city of Bolgheri.
Dear Giuseppe who welcomed us, recommended wines and managed us throughout the evening.
The wine we had chosen wasn't there but we were offered a good alternative, prices within the norm considering the now crazy prices that some labels have reached.
Some doubts about food:
Tuscan appetizer (cold cuts and bruschetta) good, well served and in the right quantity
Ovoli with carpaccio with lemon and pecorino a little anonymous, I would have highlighted the contrast more with the little pecorino.
Unfortunately, on the first course we didn't eat what we wanted to order, in the sense that we asked for wild boar ragout but with maccheroncini and not pappardelle and we received maccheroncini with rabbit ragout, to be honest we were told more than once they would immediately redo the dish (but we had already waited a while we didn't want to prolong the time).
Well, the rabbit macaroni was delicate anyway.
The disappointment was the Florentine, unfortunately even though it was requested rare it arrived a little overcooked, we pointed it out but by now nothing could be done.
Finally, dessert, enticed by the tiramisu that the diner composed from time to time at the individual tables throughout the evening, we took that too.
The idea of composing it at the moment with ladyfingers, coffee and mascarpone is nice but the coffee cannot be hot in my opinion, otherwise the taste of the mixture will change. Some ladyfingers were hard, others were very soft and melted by the hot coffee. In my opinion, mascarpone is excellent.
Price 118 euros each (4 people with 2 bottles of wine costing 67 euros), which may be okay but between the mistake of the first courses and an overcooked Florentine steak, a significant discount would have been a nice gesture... and not 3 euros... .

We have been coming since 2021 and were always happy about the quality of food, but this time we were disappointed. Entrees very expensive for the cut of couple meat which was not very special in the cooking or preparation and the meals were meh from taste.
We had the beef slow cook on wine sauce and the pasta with boar meat which was drier than last time and tasted somehow synthetic….
What a pity….the place is still beautiful and picturesque.
