great tavern-style local spot, with a tourist friendly menu that left everyone in my group satisfied. recommended to go with small groups, and to order from the tourist menu. the price-quality ratio is perfect, and the house wine was perfect for the dishes. dont expect especially fast service - the trattoria serves good food at a good price to local customers. but if you want a break from exploring the city and some quality local food, this is an ideal choice.

I had lunch with my wife one week, all based on porcini mushrooms. The tagliatelle with mushrooms and fried mushrooms were excellent. The dishes were standard and the price was fair. I will definitely go back.

The best meal of the trip, and for 15 euros. A typical Italian restaurant. It even seems family-run. Even though it's in a touristy area, I highly recommend it.

An excellent traditional Ligurian trattoria opposite the 15th-century building where Saint Caterina Fieschi was born. The trofie alla recchese are expertly prepared, and the fried shrimp and calamari are also very good. The restaurant is beautiful, with fixtures and furnishings from the first half of the last century. I'm returning after three years and can confirm the high quality, courtesy, and friendliness.

Traditional restaurant. We ordered mussels as a starter, pasta with pesto, lemon sauce veal cutlets and a salad. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly.

We liked everything: authentic atmosphere, delicious food (we had tourist menu for 15 euros for 2 meals), fast and friendly service. The owners doesn’t speak English but it wasn’t an issue at all. We recommend this place

Spectacular location, unbeatable menu for 15 euros, delicious pasta, and even better service. Away from the tourist hubbub. Without a doubt, if we return to Genoa, we'll definitely be back.

Trattoria San Carlo

11/10/2025: Came here solo as on travel to Genova on business orders. It’s never optimal to go solo to a nice restaurant on a Saturday night when the dining room is full of couples and groups. But it worked well here. Waiter spoke English as well, so easy to communicate. Food and service was top notch. Would return anytime. Highly recommended.
10/10/2025: A small restaurant where you can rediscover traditional culinary traditions. A welcoming atmosphere and attentive, friendly service. Simple dishes, without ostentatious refinement, showcase the extraordinary flavors of the ingredients, the Ligurian roots, and the love with which they're made.
