As always, a remarkable culinary experience, everything excellent. The price was high, but the experience was positive.

A very quaint place. Don't miss the visit to the cave. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We had dinner, trying all the appetizers, which were exceptional. Highly recommended.

A very nice and well-kept place, but accepting a customer without a reservation with a clear grimace (it seems to say, "You don't know how long we have to wait...") isn't elegant. A customer passes by and politely tries to ask if there's room... nothing else.
Good service, but prices are too high (strozzapreti at €18, partially cured meats at €22, slices of cake at €6-8, tripe at €20). It's certainly not an Osteria, but they're right, considering it's always packed and, as young people would say, "they're showing off too much." Santarcangelo offers plenty of alternatives.

Beautiful, but that's not all...
The restaurant has a truly charming and well-maintained location. The initial welcome was warm, and the quality of the food was excellent, reflecting the region and Romagna.
However, I have a few suggestions to make, because it's a shame, given the setting and the bill—which is worthy of an impeccable restaurant—to make a mistake.
First of all,
We had booked for 1:00 PM, and during the booking process we were told that we had to already plan on the main courses because the kitchen closes at 2:30 PM (a contradiction, given that online bookings can be made until after 2:00 PM).
Furthermore, there were four of us, and they put us at a table for two, even though there were larger tables with benches for two. And when the waiter brought the appetizers, since there was no room, we were told, "You have to find a way to fit everything in." This is certainly fine in a simple trattoria, but not in a restaurant where the cover charge is still a premium and a certain level of service is expected.
Another observation, still related to the service, concerns the water being available only. Filtered and in a jug, while I understand the green choice, I think not being able to choose water in a glass bottle is a limitation. Honestly, not everyone appreciates the taste of filtered water.
My observations are intended to improve the organization of reservations and the attentiveness of the service, which seems a bit hasty and cold, not really consistent with the welcome and beauty of the place and the bill!

Unfortunately, the service and price ruined the (spectacular) location and the menu. We booked online for four, arrived, and were given a table for two. Of course, as soon as the first orders arrived, the waiter, not knowing where to put our things, told us exactly what to do; "You organize yourselves by moving the bottles." And to think that next to us there was a table for at least six with only two people seated... Bah!! I also didn't like the choice to serve purified water in a jug (definitely a green choice) at €2 per jug, but without giving the customer a choice. What can I say in an osteria with Michelin-starred restaurant prices? With a cover charge of €3.50 per person, you'd certainly expect at least more attentive service. Will we return? No. The food was good, yes, but nothing you couldn't find at another good restaurant or agriturismo in Romagna for half the price.

A beautiful restaurant partially built inside one of the caves of Santarcangelo di Romagna
Typical Romagna cuisine. Excellent wine selection. Homemade desserts, just like in the olden days. The delicious piada, which accompanies some dishes, is freshly prepared.
