La Rosa dei venti In Palmi

Like every year we return to this little slice of paradise, where you can still taste good fish, excellent fried food, a glass of wine and enjoy the breathtaking view. Being able to find good cuisine, without too many contaminations of sushi and sashimi, courtesy and the art of hospitality is really important.

I can report the excellent experience at the restaurant. Family management, fresh fish and the very kind lady. The only flaw, ... the coffee ahaahh

A truly memorable lunch. The restaurant welcomed us with a spectacular view: from our table we could admire the beach, the cliff populated by seagulls, Mount Sant’Elia and, in the distance, the Strait of Messina. A view that alone would be worth the visit. The fish was very fresh, cooked with care and respect for the raw material. Every dish was a pleasure, from the appetizer to the dessert. Kind and discreet service, relaxing atmosphere and a surprisingly low bill compared to the quality offered. A place to return to and that I will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Once a year we come to Calabria and we never fail to come and eat in this restaurant with a unique view of Sicily and the Aeolian islands especially at sunset, impeccable service, very fresh fish, which you are made to choose by bringing the tray with the catch of the day to the table and it is explained to you how it will be cooked. Too bad it's so far from where we live!!!

By chance we were on our way to Mount Elia and we stopped and even though it said reservations only were written on the door, they were kind and welcomed us anyway, really delicious and plentiful dishes, super service, honest price. Fabulous location with breathtaking views. If I come back to those parts we will more than willingly go back.

Abbiamo prenotato con le migliori intenzioni: pranzare a base di pesce in uno dei migliori ristoranti disponibili sul nostro tragitto, a prezzi ragionevoli. L'esperienza è stata un pò diversa. Nei paccheri con spada e melanzane il pesce si limitava a tre pezzetti piccoli. I due nostri primi piatti erano chiaramente meno abbondanti di quelli serviti nella tavola accanto alla nostra, dove diversi commensali erano persone della zona, evidentemente conosciute al ristorante. Discorso analogo per il secondo a base di sogliola: il cuoco che ce l'ha proposta ci ha mostrato una sogliola lunga 35/40 cm., di non più di 500 grammi di peso a crudo, da deliscare. E infatti nel piatto le nostre porzioni erano meno di 150 grammi ciascuno. Ma a conti fatti il peso che ci è stato fatturato è stato di 950 grammi. È sufficiente fare una breve ricerca online per rendersi conto che una sogliola non supera i 400/500 grammi di peso. La nostra impressione - e ripeto: è una mera impressione - è stata di aver pagato di più di quello che avremmo dovuto pagare. Forse la loro bilancia era guasta ... 😁 Io e mia moglie facciamo la spesa tutti i giorni e spesso acquistiamo i filetti di sogliola o di branzino, perfettamente consapevoli del peso di ogni filetto. Insomma, non è piacevole essere trattati in questo modo per il solo fatto di essere turisti di passaggio. Sulla qualità del pesce nulla da eccepire: era fresco e ben cucinato. Ma nulla di più e di meglio di come avremmo saputo cucinarlo a casa. Insomma, un pranzo senza infamia e senza lode, ma costato sicuramente il 25-30% in più di quanto abbiamo pagato per esempio a Scilla (in un altro ristorante) con la medesima qualità ma con una cucina che abbiamo apprezzato di più per l'originalità e la fantasia che il cuoco ha saputo dimostrare.
