We had a great dinner there with a friend who lives in Rotondella. She said it was the best and we totally agree. It is a family run restaurant and they were ready to give us some of the local delicacies. We had the antipasto platter, then specialty pie called L’Patizz, one stuffed with pork the other potato and green peppers. Then dried and then quickly fried red peppers, called peperoni cruschi - very tasty and crunchy. We also tried the local pasta Frizzole co middiche. The pasta is hand rolled and curled with an iron rod. The chef came out to talk to us and it was a very friendly place. A very enjoyable evening.

We ate on a panoramic terrace with a spectacular view. Excellent sausage, eggplant, salad, and ricotta tart. We returned two days later. Same table, same view. Falagoni calzone with potatoes and onions as an appetizer. Frizzuli as a first course: handmade pasta with a mixed meat tomato sauce and breadcrumbs. Ricotta and chocolate tart. Everything was excellent, and the lady serving the tables was very friendly.

Siamo stati prima a pranzo e poi ritornati per cena a distanza di due giorni. Locale familiare e ottima accoglienza. Molto buoni i piatti locali così come la pizza. Dalla terrazza si gode di un panorama incantevole, che arriva fino al Golfo di Taranto, ciò fa de La Mangiatoia il miglior balcone del "Balcone dello Jonio" così come viene definita Rotondella. È eccezionale il rapporto qualità-prezzo. Da consigliare sicuramente!

Ci siamo tornati due volte: ottime pietanze, buonissime le focacce, dobbiamo tornare per assaggiare la pizza. Ambiente informale e accogliente, bella la terrazza, particolare l’ingresso. Accoglienza dei proprietari favolosa, molto umana, attenta e familiare. Consigliatissimo!!

01/11/2025: A restaurant in the heart of the Murgia Materana, excellent food and good prices, saving you a few euros compared to others on the same street. The restroom is clean despite the busy streets. You can eat inside or outside on the panoramic terrace. They don't accept lunch after 2:30 PM; I recommend arriving at 12:30 PM. After 1:00 PM, the number of people arriving is at a peak, although they do arrive fairly quickly.
26/10/2025: We enjoyed every bite. The lamb was perfect.
