Update March 2025 (at the bottom) A place for connoisseurs. You won't find the usual Mexican/Spanish tourist cuisine, but typical traditional dishes cooked with the same local recipe. The owner (if you know how to get it, he's a very nice and knowledgeable person) boasts thirty years of experience in South American cuisine on site and does it out of passion. The menu is particular and the products are top quality. The paella (if you want to try his) you will have to book it and not on Saturday because he "only cooks fresh products and the original paella needs 3 hours of preparation". La Madrugada is a culinary experience and as mentioned above is for connoisseurs. The environment is quiet and very small (3/4 tables) so booking is mandatory. The prices are quite high but it can be worth it in terms of value for money. Update March 2025: I confirm that the quality of the place, the freshness of the products and the goodness of the cuisine requires a review of the organisation: in the place there is only the owner and the helper (who however only takes care of the kitchen) and it is the owner who manages the orders, table service and preparation of the dishes, this significantly slows down the arrival of the dishes resulting in you having to wait almost two hours to finally be able to taste the paella; A waiter is necessary to manage orders, especially when you have to explain the dishes on the menu, serve at the tables, welcome customers: it is unthinkable to do everything alone because it inevitably takes time away from preparing the dishes and the wait becomes very long and sometimes unnerving. So you are warned, you will eat well, but the wait will be long

La Madrugada If you are looking for an authentic experience of Spanish and Mexican cuisine, La Madrugada is the right place. This place, led with passion by Sergio, offers not only excellent dishes, but also a warm and convivial atmosphere that makes every visit special. The quality of the food is unquestionable: everything is freshly prepared, without any industrial products. Sergio's artisanal sauces are a real gem, balanced to perfection to enhance each dish without ever covering its flavor. The meat, then, is simply extraordinary: tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. Another special mention goes to Sergio's sangria, expressly prepared by him with fresh ingredients and without shortcuts. The result? A perfect balance of fruit, spices and wine, making every sip a real pleasure. It is the ideal companion to accompany the meal and immerse yourself even more in the atmosphere of the restaurant. In addition to the quality of the cuisine, what makes La Madrugada a place to recommend is Sergio himself. His genuine hospitality and the passion he puts into his work are reflected not only in his dishes, but also in the way he welcomes and entertains his guests. This place is a true gem among the places in the Vomero-Arenella area, exquisite food, authentic flavors and convivial atmosphere. We ate really well, paying very little in relation to quantity and quality (the maxi burrito was so large that 2 of us took half of it home, the fresh nachos were special). I was only sorry to see the place empty throughout the evening, a real shame, considering that the area is full of cheap and obscene places that are packed out every Saturday. There is a need to support activities that offer quality, it is the only valid restaurant in the city that offers this type of cuisine. Long live the Madrugada!
