La Locanda del Castello In Labico

This is one of the few GREAT restaurants in Tuscany. Located in the cutest village of 300 people, San Giovanni d'Asso, you will ultimately feel welcomed when walking in! The owner (Massimo) is the master chef, who is quick to introduce guests to one another (especially Americans, who might feel language-challenged, like me). Kids are welcomed and don't forget the Tiramisu, that Massimo makes from scratch! The pizzas are great as everything else! This is not one of those Tuscan restaurants trying to do "fancy" food for Americans. Its true home-cooked Tuscan food. Always great choices for local wines.

Yesterday Thursday evening, I went shopping at the nearby CTS supermarket. I feel like pizza and I get one at Boscaiola as a takeaway. Excellent, really excellent. Perfectly leavened dough, light and crunchy at the right point. To be repeated more often with other types of 🍕

During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of enjoying their set lunch menu, being pleasantly surprised by the quality and care dedicated to each course. Pasta alla boscaiola, with its balance of flavours, proved to be a true triumph of taste, capable of enhancing tradition with a perfectly balanced rustic note. The succulent and delicious plated hamburger was accompanied by a fresh and crunchy salad, which enriched the culinary experience with its refined simplicity. All at a surprisingly low price of just €15. La Locanda del Castello demonstrates how quality and excellence can also meet in the proposal of a fixed menu, without compromising on taste or the freshness of the raw materials. An experience that I highly recommend to anyone who wants a highly satisfying gastronomic lunch.
