A recent weekend led us to discover a hidden corner of gastronomic delights: the Fermata del Gusto di Bastia in Albenga. A place that, from the first impact, reveals a profound connection with the excellence of local productions, immediately becoming much more than a simple "stop".
This place has the power to surprise, especially for those, like us, who are looking for authentic culinary experiences full of flavour. While we were paying at the cash register, the farmer from the Il Boschetto farm also arrived with his very fresh Brigasca ricottas, highlighting the close synergy with the local farms, underlining a commitment to quality and freshness which is good beyond the norm. We were also able to visit the farm and the dairy!
The atmosphere of the Fermata del Gusto is warm and inviting, a happy union between different souls: from bar to restaurant, to gastronomy. The service, far from any formalism, is striking for its genuineness and spontaneity, creating an almost immediate family atmosphere. It is rare to find a place that manages to make visitors feel "at home" right from the first meeting, but here the feeling of familiarity and welcome is palpable.
The menu is a celebration of local cuisine, with dishes that enhance the local raw materials without falling into unnecessary complications. From the mixed appetizer, through creative first courses, to the surprising tongue in Salsa Verde, each course is a journey through the genuine flavors of Albenga and its surroundings. The culinary philosophy is clear: simplicity, quality, and respect for the ingredients.
Quality, a word often abused but fully deserved here, manifests itself in every detail. From Brigasca sheep's cheese, a rarity of the area, to fresh and mature cheeses, each product tells the story and passion of the people behind its creation. La Fermata del Gusto is not just a place to eat, but an enriching experience, a journey into the local gastronomic culture to be experienced without haste.
The Fermata del Gusto di Bastia in Albenga is one of those discoveries that warms the heart and satisfies the palate, a place where the passion for genuine food and the connection with the territory create an unforgettable experience. If you are in the area, treat yourself to the pleasure of a visit: not only will you taste culinary excellence, but you will feel part of a community that celebrates the beauty of gastronomy with authentic passion.

Perfect ! Small authentic restaurant! When I read the comments from French people who are not happy it must be Parisians who understand nothing and are always ps being happy

A pleasant experience, small but well-kept environment, also equipped with a shop.
Friendly service, good food, good wine selection.
I was disappointed by the tripe, too bad... without potatoes or beans, so... good but greasy, two potatoes would have been fine.
The desserts... well, I wouldn't take the tart again, it looked like it was from the supermarket, sacker was better, nothing unforgettable.

A very nice restaurant and also open on Sundays at 5.30 pm. We were very hungry before returning to France and so let's say we were lucky. Really good dishes, not to mention the wine. The portions, however, are a bit limited. But this also allowed us to have a dessert and who doesn't love Italian desserts. My fish should have been steamed but it was a little too dry. We also took a bottle of the wine served at the table with us because it was truly crazy - the Patrone Bianco. The service was excellent and the environment was very relaxing.

Very nice place, very kind, but all the dishes were ruined by a terribly rancid oil, bordering on edible. I know how to recognize a good oil and certainly a freshly pressed oil (which among other things must be left to settle a bit) has a stronger flavour... but there is a big difference between a strong oil and a rancid oil . Given the manager's insistence (and the ignorant blow we received for our lack of knowledge of oil...😅) we tried to eat almost everything out of politeness but with major digestion problems afterwards...

1 antipasto misto, 1 insalata, 3 primi, 2 dolci, 2 caffè, 2 acqua 81 euro, porzioni generose.
