La Calchera In Nave

I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I had a really good time, food, service, staff, excellent price.

We went for Sunday lunch and ordered the Sunday menu. The spaghetti with clams was very good and plentiful, and the fried calamari (very tender) and French fries were equally good. The atmosphere is spacious and bright. The table was set with cloth tablecloths and napkins, which I always like. The waitresses were friendly and quick with their service. I noticed the overall cleanliness (even in the restrooms). The price is absolutely competitive. We'll be back to try the pizzas, which looked appetizing. The restaurant has ample free parking adjacent to it.

We went in for a business lunch at €13, then were attracted by a sign advertising that that day they were offering beef in oil and polenta for €18. So we ordered a business lunch and beef in oil. We were expecting to pay €31 for the coffee, but to our surprise, we ended up paying €36.50. The surcharge was due on top of the coffee and wine, which I didn't drink because I had to drive... and it was included in the business lunch. Too bad they lost out on the wine, which we hadn't even consumed. Much more clarity and transparency are needed.

I'm editing my review under new management. Good quality pizza, good service. I can see that the prices are getting out of hand. €3 per cover with pizza (it's the same everywhere now), €7 for dessert. Let's leave aside the money issue, which is a boring thing (if you want to save money, stay home). The atmosphere has lost some of its tradition, something only those who knew the old management and the ladies who served can understand. Today, the atmosphere is more youthful, and the attention to the tables could be improved. The cashier is lacking a few smiles, but they made up for it with a complimentary liqueur. That said, good work. The pizza is very good.
