Good pizza but too thin for my taste

After walking nearly seven miles during the day, we were looking for a good pizza in a pleasant place. Following the excellent reviews, we headed to La Basilica, just five minutes from our hotel. We were delighted to discover this restaurant for several reasons. The venue is truly beautiful: the tables are well spaced, there are three indoor dining rooms, and outdoor seating is available on both sides of a very old and charming building. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, tastefully furnished, very clean, bright, and pleasantly quiet. The staff was friendly and attentive without ever being pushy. There is an enormous variety of pizzas on the menu — so many that choosing became difficult, despite my lifelong passion and experience with pizza. Being Neapolitan, I can say that this matters a lot. Although the restaurant was only about one-third full, the waiting time was short. We thoroughly enjoyed both the pizzas and the vegetable side dishes. At the end of the evening, we were so satisfied that we shared our positive impressions with the manager, Mr. Angelo, whom we thank for his time and welcoming attitude — just like the majority of the people of Cilento.

I booked late but even though it was Saturday I got a reservation with a wait of an hour which was enough to get ready and reach the venue.

Stopped here for lunch before visiting Paestum. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, very helpful. Their web site has good photos and details on all their food, very useful. Food was quite good and the outdoor seating was very pleasant. Restaurant is also back from the main road so you don’t feel like you are eating in the middle of the crowd on the road. All in all, great place to stop.

For the location it would be TOP in the report card but for what you spend and what you taste the ratio is unbalanced!

After the cultural program, we were treated to some delicious food. The pizza was fantastic. Everything was quick even though it was really busy.
