Besides the beauty of the intimate and evocative location, which truly made us fall in love with each detail, the food was divine. The food was excellent, with exceptional flavors, and served in an original way. From appetizer to dessert, we were truly thrilled. Furthermore, the friendliness and kindness of the entire staff made our experience even more enjoyable. Being greeted with a smile is not a given. The service was wonderful thanks to Desi and the owner, Letizia, who made us feel right at home. We tried tagliolini with pistachio and prawns that were absolutely delicious, grilled octopus cooked to perfection with an exquisite flavor, and some tomatoes with stracciatella that were truly amazing. The highlight was when the owner and chef, Danilo, came out to ask how everything was. He was extremely kind and even recommended many places for us to visit during our trip. Without a doubt, we will come back to try the rest of the menu. One of the best restaurants in Sicily. We had the most wonderful experience at this restaurant. The warm gluten free olive bread was as good as normal bread! The prawn and pesto pasta was the best pasta dish we had in our entire 6 weeks in Italy. Wonderful gluten free deserts too. All of the staff including the chef and owner were extremely warm and friendly, and very kindly spoke English with us. One of our favourite meals out. Highly, highly recommend if you are visiting Ortigia.

Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. Not because of the food, which was excellent, and the staff's service was magnificent. But the portions seemed very small for the price of the dishes. Especially the off-menu sardine dish, which, although we were told it was three sardines, was actually three halves. It's a shame because they were spectacular. I suppose it's one of those places you have to return to for a second opinion.

There are plenty of restaurants like this, but nothing special. Friendly staff, a fairly quiet atmosphere. We ate outside. The swordfish caponata had only a few traces of fish, practically overrun with eggplant, peppers, and capers. The octopus alla Luciana was bland and the sauce was inconsistent. The smoked anchovies with burrata were good, but they asked a ridiculously high price for three filleted anchovies, as was the spaghetti with sea urchins. They were good, but €27 seems overly pretentious in this place. Overall, a good dinner, but it won't impress anyone who understands fish. Foreigners and those who aren't seafood connoisseurs will certainly appreciate it more!

A wide choice on the menu, minimal wait times both for seating and for service. Carefully crafted dishes with a touch of theatricality (like the flambéed rosemary that accompanied the grilled octopus). As a native of Bari, I can honestly say I've tasted the best spaghetti with sea urchin pulp ever! And last but not least, the ricotta dessert capped off the whole dinner. What more can I say?! In un contesto in cui sono nate decine di realtà gastronomiche mirate a soddisfare esclusivamente il palato mordi e fuggi dei turisti, Kantunera rappresenta un'eccezione.
