Il Tulipano In Viterbo

Passing through Viterbo with my family, we dined at this simple trattoria where the focus is on service, a family atmosphere, and the food: rare qualities when you add the moderate prices. We tried the venison both as a first course with tagliatelle and as a second course: fantastic! But the most delicious thing were the figs from Maurizio's tree! Marcella (I've Italianized her name to avoid mistakes) was incredibly kind and charming, Maurizio's irreplaceable sidekick.

Wild boar pappardelle like this... I've never eaten it before. Excellent service, a welcoming, family atmosphere. Alessandro is kind, patient, and always polite. Fantastic owners!

Outside the historic center of Viterbo there is a place of goodness. This very simple and tasty trattoria is the best you can find in Viterbo. The Big Boss welcomes us at 9:30 pm and interrupts a chat with a friend to eat for us. The menu is written on a piece of paper, with various explanations of the freshness and preparation of the dishes. Very good. The Big Boss makes sure it is to our liking, otherwise no problem, he changes or offers the dishes again if we want. Abruzzese bitters at the end to conclude the dinner. First and second courses, wine and water are about 20 euros per person. Keep going like this Big Boss

Very rustic place with very eighties hints especially the cuisine, but still good free-range and homemade at reasonable prices. Excellent dishes of the day.
