The Sanctuary of Montevergine is a place that envelops you in an atmosphere of profound spirituality. The asceticism of the environment, accentuated by its position at the top of the mountain, fits perfectly with the solemnity of the celebrations. Every year I participate in the Holy Mass of the Immaculate Conception and I am always deeply impressed by the simplicity and devotion of the faithful. The architecture of the sanctuary, with its austere lines and ancient frescoes, contributes to creating an atmosphere of contemplation that encourages meditation. The liturgical celebration, accompanied by Gregorian chants, touched me deeply, making me feel part of a community of believers. It is an experience that I recommend to anyone looking for a moment's break from the daily frenzy and wanting to get in touch with their spirituality.

Devoted to the Madonna. Sanctuary at 1270 MT above sea level. it was built around 1100 and is dedicated to the Madonna of Montevergine. Many of us go on a pilgrimage on foot, many of us barefoot, starting from the city of Avellino along the paths, in prayer. The celebration of Candlemas, on February 2, is very heartfelt, the "juta dei Femminielli", very cheerful and folkloristic, where heterosexuals, homosexuals and the whole rainbow world, from all over Italy and many from Naples, pay homage to the Madonna, their protector, and for this reason I believe it is unique. The sanctuary is enriched by works of art donated by popes and kings, including this beautiful painting of the Madonna of Montevergine, also called Mamma Schiavona with her magical gaze. The Sanctuary preserved the bones of San Gennaro and the Holy Shroud for a long time during the war. And it was the ski resort of the Prince of Piedmont. The nativity scene exhibition and the museum are beautiful. The monks' products are excellent, including the famous Anthemis liqueur. Beautiful panorama. Winding road to get to the sanctuary, the very convenient alternative is a funicular that takes you up in a few minutes, which leaves from Mercogliano (AV), although it is advisable to find out about the timetables (especially when going down) and how it works.

After many years I return to the Sanctuary of Montevergine. The road in many places is 1 lane and could cause inconvenience when passing buses. Parking a little excessive (€3) to leave it on the street under the ''tunnel''

The sanctuary. beautiful, it doesn't need reviews. I recommend reaching it with the cable car and not with your own car

The Sanctuary is a very characteristic place full of tradition and history. During weekdays there are not many crowds and you can fully experience the place. On site there is a bar and a few small shops for souvenirs or handicraft products.

Simple sanctuary externally with a large square, shame that it is all occupied by vehicles. Internally the churches are beautiful, especially the Madonna chapel
