Pesce d’Orto in Alghero ❤️❤️❤️ is a restaurant that shouldn't really be called just a "restaurant," but rather HOME. It's more like a small culinary experience, a place where you realize that food is more than just sustenance—it's a piece of joie de vivre, tradition, and Mediterranean delight.
From the moment you step inside, you know something special awaits you. The atmosphere is bright, friendly, and warm without being pretentious. It has an earthy, natural feel, with great attention to detail. The tables are beautifully set, the lighting is pleasant, and the staff's smiles are so genuine that you immediately feel welcome.
And then the food arrives.
The sea bream, in particular, is truly divine. It's served so fresh that you can almost smell the sea it came from. Grilled to perfection, light golden brown, with a delicately crispy skin and meat so tender it practically melts in your mouth. The seasoning is minimalist, and that's precisely what makes it so good: a touch of sea salt, a hint of lemon, perhaps a little Sardinian herbs – enough to accentuate the natural flavors without overpowering them.
The side dishes often come directly from the region, some even from their own garden or from small local producers. Nothing feels industrial or mass-produced – here you feel like you're visiting people who are proud of their island and its produce.
The menu is concise, but incredibly high-quality. There are often daily specials, depending on the fresh catch. And every dish is prepared with the same care, patience, and passion.
What might surprise many: the pizza at Pesce d’Orto is also really good. The dough is light, airy, yet beautifully crispy. The ingredients seem high-quality and fresh, and the Pizza Rot with its intense, fruity tomato sauce is a real highlight. You can tell that even simple dishes are prepared with great care here.
What makes an evening at Pesce d’Orto so special is the combination of quality, warmth, and atmosphere. You sit there, perhaps with a glass of Sardinian white wine, feel the gentle sea breeze, hear the soft murmur of the other guests, and you realize: This is vacation. This is Sardinia. This is true enjoyment.

A little gem from our trip to Alghero. A huge thank you to Nouri, our incredibly attentive waiter, whose fish filleting was worthy of a top restaurant! We arrived on a Thursday evening without a reservation, and the restaurant was full, but the owner kindly found us a table within 30 minutes, and we were able to enjoy a cocktail on the veranda while we waited! A truly wonderful experience, we highly recommend it!

Year after year, I love coming here and have always been very satisfied. Although I'm a vegetarian and could eat delicious pizza here, I make an exception and order fish because I trust the quality. The dishes are truly delicious. The wine list is also excellent. The prices are reasonable. Reservations are a must!
