Il Mortaio In Genova

Yesterday I tried the Mortaio in Voltri, a simple but tidy trattoria, the service was a little slow at the beginning and then it flows well. The pesto and the cod and olive sauce were excellent, cooked well al dente. The sweet and frothy tiramisu was excellent.

Great food and friendly staff. The only flaw, at least for the evening I was there for dinner with my husband, is that the dishes are small appetizer that of first, they didn't arrive together, so each ate when the other had already finished. But the food and desserts are excellent.

We found it by chance and had a great time. Generous portions, excellent quality food. The top is grandma's cake with chestnut flour.

Excellent home cooking place! The menu, although limited, includes seafood and land dishes. The paccheri with octopus carbonara, the pesto and especially the fried squid and prawns are recommended; the fried food was light and well done! The portions are also very satisfying. Il Mortaio therefore offers a perfect environment to spend an evening with friends, dedicated to authentic Genoese cuisine.

Good trattoria, simple and homely, courteous staff, the value for money has perhaps decreased a little lately, especially compared to two years ago, but still a good choice for a good and quick dinner.
