Il Gianfornaio in Testaccio is a must-visit for those who love well-made leavened goods. Upon entering, you're greeted by the unmistakable aroma of freshly baked bread and a warm, authentic atmosphere, typical of places that focus on quality. The counter is a feast for the eyes: crispy, well-topped pizzas, soft focaccias, cakes, and cookies that smell of delicious butter. The deli section is also excellent, with fresh, flavorful options perfect for a quick yet high-quality lunch. The staff is also particularly courteous, always smiling and available, even during peak hours.

We had breakfast at Il Gian Fornaio near Porta Portese, and the experience was overall very positive. We had two cappuccinos, which turned out to be among the best we've ever had in Rome: creamy, balanced, and truly delicious. We paired them with some traditional desserts, like a rich and fluffy chocolate brownie and a chocolate chip paretone, as well as pancakes with chocolate and fruit. All were so delicious, we didn't even have time to take a photo... 😂 For the savory side, we chose a sandwich with Philadelphia, Milano salami, and arugula, simple but made with fresh ingredients. We also added freshly squeezed orange juice and a coffee to round out our breakfast. The only downside, besides the slightly high price, is the service: everything is completely self-service, so you have to pick up your food, sit down, eat almost on the wrist, and then clear away. Not the best, especially considering the prices. That said, the quality of the products is really good. Rating: 8/10.

We came in for a bit of relaxation and a quick coffee. The atmosphere and the premise were beautiful. The desserts looked very appetizing, but unfortunately, they didn't live up to our expectations. We ordered and were told to sit down and they'd bring our order to our table. Our order arrived, and half of it didn't match. Furthermore, they brought us water we hadn't asked for, and then charged us for it at the register even though we hadn't drunk it. It's a shame, the experience didn't live up to expectations.
