Nothing made the visit unforgettable. But we really liked the rustic, quiet atmosphere in the mountains. Something different from the hustle and bustle in Bolgheri. And the prices are also really moderate for this region. Especially since the pizza was extremely tasty, as was the pasta. We'd love to come back.

Wonderful little restaurant perched on a hill in Sassetta! We tasted wild boar in every way! FABULOUS!!!

A truly STINCAZZI dinner (small reference to the shin eaten in the restaurant)! We were doing a Tuscan itinerary and were lucky enough to find this tavern on our route. After a long string of tourist places where food and service are truly unbecoming, this treasure chest of peace and quality was a bit like finding an oasis of water in the desert of poorly done restaurants. The Castagno restaurant is located on a small hill in the municipality of Sassetto, the road to get there is not particularly difficult but has several curves and narrow climbs, but to get the good things in life you always need a little of sacrifice. The management and service are like the place itself: genuine, simple and helpful. The waitress who welcomed us, even though she was looking after several tables, was precise and attentive but above all she treated us with the same sweetness as when your grandmother welcomes you into the house for Sunday lunch. When it comes to food, the most appropriate adjective is: WOW! Excellent quality of food and truly honest prices, with generous portions as much as the sense of inadequacy present in each of us nowadays. We took the Tuscan crostini followed by wild boar and shin, the dish that prompted me to write this review. This dish was something special, unique. At €16 a dish worth 1kg of meat and twenty sessions with a psychotherapist. If your liver and intestines don't get along this dish will resolve all the differences within you. We also took the desserts, simple and tasty, and we will definitely return to try the trio of pastas at €18 given the beautiful and abundant dishes we saw coming out of the kitchen. I can only end by complimenting the restaurateurs: you are the real reason why Italian cuisine is great in the world, go and teach these semi-tourist restaurants and Instagram what cooking means, thank you.

Everything was very good, from starters to dessert. And the Chianina skewer VERY GOOD!! It's really worth trying. Friendly and friendly table staff.

I went there for the first time by chance and I ate well, everything was very good but the field salad has no rivals, strange to say but so good, never heard of it anywhere

Last Sunday we had lunch here with friends, we had a great time with everything! The place is surrounded by greenery and has a nice outdoor area where you can stay cool in absolute tranquility. The chianina skewers, mixed (with 3 pork meats) and the lamb skewers were simply excellent so it's a shame not to order even one! The wild boar cold cuts (ham and salami) are a must try!! The mixed starter also allows you to taste good cheeses (with particular cucumber jam), cold cuts and crostini (the ones with mushrooms are very good) and is recommended for 2. We chose the house red wine in bulk and we liked it a lot, we don't always it happens. The desserts, from tiramisu to mattonella, were delicious, the figs in oil are very special... maybe take a portion to share. The staff has always been friendly and helpful... in short, if you are in the area it is worth a stop!!

Tutto perfetto dal servizio al locale , meravigliosa la carne e visto il prezzo da ritornare in un periodo un po più fresco ma visto il luogo ...il poco vento del giorno rinfrescava e invitava a mangiare ... ottimo anche il vino della casa

Buona osteria al fresco in campagna, personale cortese, prezzi medio/alti pr un osteria. Prevalenza di cacciagione. Tutto buono. Consiglio! .
