We enjoyed an excellent meal. The service, provided by a team of attentive and dedicated young professionals, contributed to the success of this pleasant experience.

Passing through Alassio on a Thursday evening in late May, we chose to dine at Barrante, captivated by its idyllic setting: a large, welcoming terrace, carefully designed interior decor with a maritime theme, nautical charts on the walls, and the various roles of the cabin crew printed on their T-shirts. The live music, featuring Latin American rhythms that evening, added a festive and warm touch to the whole experience.
When we arrived, around 7:45 p.m., the terrace was already full—a good sign, we thought. The person in charge of arrivals greeted us with a big smile and great enthusiasm. We were offered either dinner in the dining room or a 45-minute wait. With a three-year-old daughter, we opted, exceptionally, for the indoor dining room. Our mission for the evening: to get the little one to eat "quickly"! Once that was accomplished, we could have waited for our pizzas without any problem, even for a long time. Despite our recommendations, we had to wait a long time for the children's meal to be served—nearly an hour for a few nuggets. Perhaps it was the hustle and bustle in the kitchen that evening? The service seemed... overwhelmed. We even overheard some tension brewing behind the scenes: let's just say the ship's captain was enforcing discipline in a bracing voice... It reminded us that the restaurant business is a demanding profession—but in our humble opinion, storms should stay clear of the dining room.
Once the food arrived, the service faded like the tide: no one left in the dining room, impossible to order anything else, despite our stares and attempts to make contact. At 10 p.m., resigned, we went directly to the counter to pay without leaving a tip. It was a shame, because we would have gladly ordered more drinks, as well as desserts and "amari." The pizzas, while visually very successful, were lacking a little something, perhaps in the cooking—especially the "sfogliatina." On the other hand, we did see other dishes, notably the lobster linguine, which looked absolutely delicious. We'll have to make that for another time.
In short, a place full of charm and appeal, which perhaps didn't reach its full potential that evening. We'll happily return, hoping the sea will be a little calmer.
