28/05/2025: We stumbled upon this cafe by chance, thank goodness! It's a real gem, tucked away off Laubengasse. A huge selection of cakes, strudels, and other delicacies. If it weren't for the weight issue, you'd want to try a piece of everything. Everything tastes very good here. The service is attentive and friendly. When the weather is bad, everyone concentrates on the interior. It can quickly get crowded, and there may be a wait. But it's worth it. Cafe Pöhl is a must for any future visit to Merano! One more note regarding some of the negative reviews. I noticed that Italians complain because supposedly no Italian is spoken here. I can't confirm that at all! No matter where you go in South Tyrol, in my experience, the German-speaking South Tyroleans also speak Italian. The same can't always be said the other way around. Unfortunately, English usually doesn't work either. My recommendation: Be a little more relaxed if you have to wait. The rest will work itself out.
