Gino Cacino di Angelo In Siena

Fabulous experience in a SHOP of times gone by, the wonderful smell that pervades the nostrils upon entering made me feel like a child again. The owner is a friendly person, in love and proud of his work and he conveyed his passion to us by concentrating it in a space sandwich (soppressata, pecorino and vegetables)! If I return to Siena I will stop by and try a platter paired with a good red.

Very nice place recommended by the backpacker. Well hidden by a superb bougainvillea. We ate very well, excellent panini, prepared in front of us by the chef with good products and good wines. The chef works alone, he does everything. The atmosphere is great. Good address

Where to start, we were lucky enough to have the owner all to ourselves and enjoyed his very sincere and engaging conversation. We decided to let him do everything: appetizer, sandwich tasting and a tasting course. Unquestionable quality, I would define them as gourmet dishes rather than sandwiches: they go beyond the usual cold cuts, ranging over unique compositions created by the chef. More unusual appetizers and tastings show his passion for researching new tastes. Really pleasant and recommended experience. A point of reference in Siena!

As soon as you open the door of this shop you immediately understand that the experience will be unrepeatable! You will find yourself surrounded by bottles of wine, great food and perfumes! I don't think everyone can appreciate what Gino tries to maintain in his shop, namely authenticity, education and love for the products you can find. For me it was an incredible experience and from Tuscany I can admit that I have never eaten a sandwich as good as the one I tried today: sausage, stracciatella and caramelized onions all paired with a delicious glass of wine! Gino's shop is a corner of paradise!!!

Gino is an artist with food and flavors. I had his paninis 10 years ago, the first time I went to Siena. I think I went back to his shop 2 or 3 days in a row, picking up a different panini each time before heading to a different town around Siena. I had the chance to visit Tuscany again this week for a friend's wedding, and couldn't resist driving to Siena just to try another of his amazing paninis. I confess I got worried my expectations had been overblown as it can happen with memories like these, but I had no cause to worry in the end. My friends and I order a panini each and they were all delicious and I even got one to go to eat on the drive back to the airport the next day. The way Gino combines ingredients produces flavors that are greater than the sum of the parts. All this to say that he has been working on his craft for a long time and I can only imagine the care and passion he puts into each one of the long list of paninis in his menu. Bravo!
