Genzianella In Ruffrè-mendola

On our hike from Ruffré to the Mendel Pass, we first passed the rather busy Halbweghütte (Halfway Hut). We then decided to continue a little further to the Enzianhütte (Gentian Hut), and it was absolutely the right decision. We received a very warm welcome there and were able to enjoy the fantastic food in peace and quiet. It was accompanied by a delicious elderflower spritzer made with homemade elderflower syrup. Highly recommended!

The service was very friendly and polite, hence the 4 stars. However, the bacon dumpling soup tasted of nothing: The broth tasted like Maggie's broth, which only used half the amount of cubes recommended on the package, and the dumplings were slimy on the outside, as if they'd been individually wrapped in plastic wrap. Even the bacon in the dumplings tasted completely useless. We went there specifically because, based on a recommendation, we wanted to enjoy some hearty South Tyrolean cuisine again. What a shame.

Passing by this morning for a coffee, it immediately felt like home—the smells coming from the kitchen were lovely, and the place was charming!

Very beautiful place, you can reach it after a short walk, the only negative note is that once we got there, we were greeted by a girl who spoke little Italian, and spoke to us in German, we had difficulty ordering coffee and a dessert.

Super delicious food, very friendly staff, great location, and a cute playground for the kids. An easy walk with kids from the funicular station.

After making the wise decision not to stop at Rifugio Romeno, we received a very friendly welcome on our way back. The service was friendly and very attentive, and the food was excellent and freshly prepared! Every waiter and waitress wished us bon appetit as they passed us. We'd be happy to return!

A very nice hut on the Mendel. Despite the lack of a view, we had a very nice meal here. The prices are reasonable, and we received a very warm welcome. I had the Kaiserschmarrn, which was excellent.
