In my opinion, the gelato is the best in the western part of Genoa. The gelato is strictly artisanal and made with natural ingredients, and they often offer special flavors. The only downside is the confusion inside when ordering gelato. They have a display for numbers, but they never use it, which creates a confusion that tends to be unbearable.

There are places that aren't just places to buy gelato, but true pieces of your history. For me, Gelateria Flora in Genoa is exactly that: a place of the soul where I've been returning since I was a child and that continues to give me the same emotions as always.
A lifelong bond
I still remember going there as a child, my eyes shining at the display of flavors, unable to choose between pistachio, hazelnut, and stracciatella. Years have passed, but the magic remains intact. In fact, as I've grown older, I've learned to appreciate even more the exceptional quality of this artisanal gelato made with passion and select ingredients.
Fantastic people, not just gelato makers
But what makes Gelateria Flora truly special isn't just the extraordinary gelato—it's the people who work there. They are fantastic and incredible in every way. They always welcome you with a genuine smile, recognize you even if you go months without being there, remember your favorite flavors, and always have a kind word for everyone.
They're not just excellent professionals in their craft, they're people who put their heart into what they do. They make you feel at home, as if every visit were a small return to their roots. They have that rare ability to create a family atmosphere even in a fleeting moment like buying gelato.
Gelato: tradition and quality
The gelato speaks for itself: perfectly creamy, with intense and natural flavors, generous portions. The Genoese classics are unbeatable—the pistachio is dreamy, the Piedmontese hazelnut is velvety, and the fruit flavors truly taste of fresh fruit. But even the more unique creations are worth trying.
The care taken in their preparation is evident in every spoonful. This isn't the commercial gelato you find everywhere else: here, there's research, quality ingredients, and artisanal expertise passed down through generations. The prices are very fair for the quality offered.
A point of reference
Gelateria Flora is one of those places that embodies Genoese excellence: tradition, quality, and humanity. It's the place where you bring friends who come to visit to try "real gelato," where you return after years of absence and feel like you never left, where every visit is a small moment of happiness.
For me, it's more than just a gelato shop; it's a piece of my past that continues to be present. It's reassuring to know that in a rapidly changing world, there are still places like this, run by people like this, that maintain the same authenticity and goodness as always.
A heartfelt recommendation
If you're in Genoa and want to try real artisanal gelato, made with passion by extraordinary people, Gelateria Flora is a must-see. You won't regret it. And if you return, you'll understand what I mean when I say that certain places become a part of you.
