The ascent between Merano and Tyrol is a walk with a slight incline. It's ideal for a refreshment stop halfway through and a beautiful view of the Merano region.

We were at this local restaurant when we walked the path that winds through the grape bunches today. We ordered water and homemade apple juice. The apple juice was sweet and tasted heavenly (real local juice). The woman who worked there or most likely the owner was kind and pleasant. The place was full of flowers and nice decorations. The garden was well-kept like it should be in a proper German garden. Nice place and stop by if you are looking for a proper German restaurant with proper German culture.

300 Meter vom Tappeinerweg entfernt liegt das Café Fernblick am Fußweg nach Dorf Tirol. Neben der tollen Aussicht gibt es auch kleine Leckereien und einen süffigen Hauswein vom Küchelberg. Selbstgebackene Kuchen und Limonaden laden ebenfalls zum verweilen ein.

31/08/2025: Great hut. Highly recommended even if you're not hiking, as it's easily accessible by gondola. Beautiful views over the Adige Valley. Very friendly staff, good food (dinner and breakfast), and gluten-free options. Nice rooms too.
21/08/2025: A must stop while in the area. Take the gondola up and enjoy some hiking then a cold beverage with a beautiful view. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Santnerpasshütte - Rifugio Passo Santner

25/06/2025: L’estetica dell’edificio ha fatto molto Discutere. Eravamo curiosi di verificare di persona come fosse stato costruito il nuovo rifugio. Dall’esterno ammetto che non eravamo così convinti di sostare qui. In realtà è stata una piacevole scoperta la maxi terrazza con panorama mozzafiato. L’interno è completamente in legno, personale gentile e disponibile. Prezzi nella media. Porzioni abbondanti e piatti curati ( anche se la scelta è limitata , non fanno praticamente secondi… solo pasta, panini e taglieri). Nel complesso siamo stati bene, sosta consigliata dopo trekking impegnativo/ferrata.
