Enoteca D.O.C. In Marigliano

Our last night in Italy and we lucked into our best dining experience. We came 20 minutes before our reservation time, having an early morning flight out of Naples and the owner, Giovanni, couldn’t have been more welcoming, setting us up with wine and delicious antipasti of shaved meats and savory cheeses, while he made his way back and forth between the kitchen and our table. The main dish, a simple butter, cheese and truffle fettuccini, was out of this world good.. As we finished with some delicious biscuits, he called in his lovely wife, Joanna, and one of his two sons and made us feel as if we had had dinner at an old friend’s. Clearly, the best meal and best experience of our trip!

The menu is too limited; you end up ordering the same thing over and over again. The culinary offerings aren't particularly sophisticated. Fondue is a no-no in August...they need a change. As for the service...I don't think a wine bar can afford to have table staff who know nothing about wine. People eat on the street in the summer.
