30/07/2024: Every July 29th, my wife and I celebrate our wedding anniversary at the Caruso restaurant of the Grand Hotel Vesuvio, a place that has become an unmissable tradition for us. Describing the location is difficult except through photos which capture the magic of this wonderful place, directly overlooking the Castel dell'Ovo, one of the most fascinating places in Naples. The view is simply breathtaking and helps make the experience even more special.
The location is modern, warm and elegantly furnished. However, what made this dinner truly special was the menu created by the new starred chef, who collaborates with the restaurant's historic chef. The dishes, already excellent, were further improved, and each course was able to surprise us with refined flavors and new combinations.
We started the evening with a Franciacorta aperitif, followed by a Cervaro della Sala Chardonnay wine. As appetizers, we enjoyed a raw prawn, squid and potato dish, and a revisited Caprese salad. The lemon and sea urchin gnocchi were a sublime first course, while the crusted sea bream for two was the perfect choice for the second course. Between one course and another, the chef delighted us with small culinary surprises that added a touch of magic to the evening.
Particular praise goes to the impeccable service of Salvatore and all his staff. They were attentive to our every need, ensuring our glass was never empty and the table was always clean. The timing in serving the dishes was perfect, allowing us to enjoy each course without rushing.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I will certainly continue to repeat over the years with my wife. The surrounding environment and the other customers also contributed to creating a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, completing an unforgettable evening.
