I can't compare it to other Mexican restaurants since it's the only one I've been to, but I can say that every time we've been there with friends, the food has been good and the portions are generous. The spiciness isn't as bad as some might expect; in fact, I've only tried the group menu, so I'm not sure if the standard menu has any particularly spicy dishes. The service is always very nice and welcoming.
I'm not crazy about the ceiling curtains, but that's another story.

El Habanero is a place with tasty food and generous portions, friendly staff, and a convivial atmosphere, ideal if you're looking for a casual and tasty Mexican dinner in Pontedera. The only downside to this evening is the rude staff who bring barking dogs to the table!!!

I have no experience with Mexican cuisine, and I was worried the dishes would be too spicy.
I was shocked:
The dishes were delicious, with well-balanced flavors and spices.
The menu clearly indicates when the dish is very spicy (but it's still edible even for those who aren't used to it).
The menu offers several dishes for two to share.
We had a beer and an excellent sangria (typical drinks don't have a high alcohol content, so there's no risk of a hangover!)
We want to return soon to try other dishes on the menu!
The owner is very attentive and personally takes care of the service!

The atmosphere is cheerful, the service a bit slow and a bit distracted. The main courses are very good and plentiful, while the appetizers and desserts were below expectations. Overall, it's recommended.
