Excellent pastry shop, no complaints about the quality and deliciousness of the desserts, truly superb.
I'm not giving it a fifth star because of the ambiance, which is unfortunately slowly being transformed, losing the charm and personality that characterized it in the past.
The central entrance hall is the most beautiful: fortunately, it's still the original one, dating back to the complete renovation about fifteen years ago, when the pastry shop was still called Viennoiserie.
The small room on the left was originally a successful mix of modern and antique—I remember the old cupboards on the walls—and was meticulously decorated: high-quality designer materials, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, clearly the result of the work of a true architectural firm. Now, however, all that remains of that furniture are a few modern chairs and the iconic blue chandelier.
The rest has been completely overturned: the space has become ugly and anonymous, with the addition of some cheap (think of the new tables) or out-of-place (the two wooden chairs) elements.
Even the now dim lights contribute to the station cafe atmosphere.
For a while, they had large photos of their desserts hanging there; fortunately, they've been removed, though the walls are now completely bare.
The room on the right, opened by the new management, is certainly better than the other room in terms of decor and atmosphere, but it still feels a bit cold, lacking any particular charm or personality.

This pastry shop is located in the historic center of town, but despite this, it doesn't make an immediate impression. There's a wide selection for breakfast, although the pastries don't quite live up to expectations. The staff is polite and friendly enough. The products on display lack a list of ingredients, and their prices aren't displayed. The products are decently good, but not wow-worthy; honestly, I expected much more!

I stopped by Derecó and got two brioches: one with cream and one with jam. The one with cream was a real disappointment: a miserable tuft placed on the outside, resting on top, and completely empty inside... I basically ate an empty brioche. The one with jam had a little filling.
I expected a honeycomb dough, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, but none of this. Personal taste. Considering that they charge €1.80, they should at least have the decency to fill them properly.
I wouldn't go back

A very large and welcoming place in the historic center of Castiglione offering good quality pastries at the right price. Wide choice in an assortment of savory and sweet and truly courteous and knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately, lately the level of brioches has dropped in my opinion. Good cap but the cup is small in size and therefore the quantity.
