Da Cecco In Livorno

A great place! A bit off the beaten track, yet right next to the port. Small, but bustling. Locals on the go, couples, and even entire families come here. The pizza is delicious – Italian-style, but unlike any other. Perfectly prepared, with crispy edges. For a small price, you can experience an extraordinary taste and city!

Here we are in one of the temples of Livorno, complete with the appropriately gruff ladies serving. There are no reservations; there's just an excellent chickpea flour cake to eat with French bread or focaccia. Eggplant in oil is allowed. Excellent, affordable, highly recommended.

The "large" pizza is only a reference to the price. A Margherita costs €5.50. It's tiny, as big as your hand, and the pizza has no flavor. It's made in a wood-fired oven, but it tasted like it was made in an electric oven. It was edible. The place is a pizzeria, so I would have expected a better pizza, and for it to be the highlight. edit: I tried the pie. One of the best I've ever had, go for that alone. But since the pizza sucks, I can't go above 3 stars...

I ordered two small focaccias with chickpea cake and grilled vegetables for €4 each. Although the "small" version filled me up and was delicious, writing "grilled vegetables" and only finding one slice of eggplant inside was a bit sad.

Obviously, it's just a matter of personal taste: the cake isn't my cup of tea, but overall it's good. The eggplant is average. The service is fairly quick but a bit confusing. The atmosphere is traditional Livorno.

Good pizza, fast, friendly, honest

Great discoveries during our stay in Livorno! The pizzas are delicious and we tried the cinque à cinque as well as the torta from Ceci! A pure delight! Not forgetting the spuma 🙂
