Corte Cafè In Trieste

We had one evening in Trieste as we were passing through to Florence. It was a cool evening as we walked amongst the Christmas market stalls and cafes taking in the atmosphere although, even though it was still around 7.30pm there wasn’t as much happening as you would expect. We were looking for a bright place to stop and have a drink and we found it at Corte Cafe where there were only a couple of tables left, the rest were occupied by folk drinking and eating and full of life. The table of 14 who had reserved it from 5:30 were drinking wine and eating a variety of the fine food, the conversations bouncing around the full length of the table. The two young ladies animated in their private conversation, arms flailing as they shared their thoughts. It’s easy to miss the cafe as it is set off from the pavement but the all-glazed frontage and bright lights pull you in. The prices are good, the service just right and it was a nice way to end the day.

The venue immediately strikes you with its refined and welcoming atmosphere: a splendid internal courtyard, perfect for summer evenings, and a bright veranda that also makes for a pleasant aperitif with friends in the cooler months. Yesterday I was able to spend a wonderful evening with friends, and I have to thank this venue for making it happen. They served us with care, kindness, and elegance, an aperitif accompanied by an excellent platter of cured meats and cheeses that is absolutely worth trying. I thank the waiter and the owner for their great patience with us. It's not easy satisfying the needs of a dozen women!!!

Nice place away from the chaos of the street. I tried good cold cuts and cheeses even if the choice wasn't huge but I would recommend it for a quiet stop.
