Cisterna In Poggio catino

So this place is a bunch of corrugated iron shacks corralled together on top of a mountain about an hour drive north east of Rome. It’s a forested area with an outside toilet (clean) and a playground for kids. The guy who owns it (Marchello) is affable and I think his wife and her sister do all the cooking. Italian peasant food at its best! We had bruschetta with the most aromatic olive oil followed by homemade pasta with local wild mushrooms and black truffle as our starters. For main course I had grilled lamb chops with boiled vegetables and french fries. All super simple and delicious. The house red was light and smooth and matched the lamb chops perfectly.

Cisterna stands out for its decidedly Spartan atmosphere, a peculiarity that makes it unique among other places. Set in the greenery, it is ideal for enjoying outdoor meals during the summer. As for the food, it doesn't reach exceptional heights. The pizzas, while having an acceptable flavour, are noticeably thin and sometimes slightly burnt. It should be noted that the service, although affable, is often slow and not always timely in responding to requests. The use of paper or plastic plates helps to emphasize the rustic and informal look of the place.

Very local eatery, it is located in the mountains and in the forest. An incredibly good authentic experience both in terms of food and place. Definitely worth a visit.

Quiet place, among the centuries-old Turkey oak trees, ideal for keeping the summer sun's rays away and enjoying the fresh air of the evening, you can eat by reservation otherwise you have to wait a bit but it doesn't matter if there is good company, the prices are competitive, the food is locally sourced, all fresh, especially pasta and meat and vegetables. If you don't have big demands, it's the ideal place for families and groups.

Una vera oasi di pace, frescura e benessere, anche per gli estimatori della cucina casereccia. Il servizio è stato accurato ed i piatti tutti gustosi. Da tornarci, spesso.... Agosto 2023: la mia recensione è confermata e, nonostante l'insolito affollamento, Marcello, la moglie ed i ragazzi hanno saputo farci trascorrere una bella serata a tavola a prezzi onesti! Complimenti!

La cucina è semplice e tradizionale; ha il suo forte soprattutto nella carne arrostita sulla brace oltre che nelle pizze. Talvolta si deve attendere un poco per il servizio perché un poco affollato d'estate, essendo molto piacevole trascorrere qualche ora nella frescura del bosco e questo comprensibilmente attira con buona ragione, le persone.

Immerso nella natura, con tavoli proprio al limitare di un bosco, facilmente raggiungibile, ma irreperibile anche alla rete cellulare! Ci siamo stati una domenica di fine ottobre, con i raggi di sole che filtravano fra gli alberi, ed abbiamo pranzato davvero divinamente! Certo non aspettatevi chissà quali coperti e vettovaglie, le stesse sedie e tavoli sono fra i più spartani mai visti e piatti e bicchieri sono monouso, presumo almeno del tipo ecologico, ma gli antipasti ed i primi piatti sono ottimi, per non parlare della carne, divina e di buon cottura, con contorni freschi e di stagione. Anche il dessert abbiamo gustato, il tutto accompagnato da 1/4 di vino davvero delizioso! Abbiamo usufruito del bagno, trovandolo pulito, nonostante l'ubicazione, e siamo stati gestiti da giovani capaci ed ospitali con tempi di attesa, fra una portata e l'altra, per nulla lunghi o poco gestibili. Il conto è stato onesto e ben equilibrato fra i costi e le portate, comunque giuste anche nella quantità.

Un posto meraviglioso immerso nel bosco. Si mangia molto bene a livello famigliare. Ottima carne, pizza buona. Un ambiente confortevole gestito a livello familiare. Titolari simpatici, servizio veloce e cortese. Da provare!!

Servizio semplice ma efficace, ottima qualità, soprattutto la carne. Prezzi buoni. Luogo molto bello, tu trovi avvolto nel bosco….da favola. Loretta
