Those osterias you stumble upon by chance and that ultimately become a memorable address.
We went to Osteria e Vinaino Cicalone in Florence and it was a wonderful surprise. We hadn't booked, and from the outside it looked full, but we asked anyway, and within minutes they found us a table.
The place is small but very welcoming, with informal decor featuring signs brimming with irony and Florentine humor. Quality rock music plays in the background, giving the place character and creating a relaxed atmosphere.
The owner recommended the wine: a Cabernet from the Antinori winery. I must admit that I don't normally choose wines from this winery because I find them a bit too commercial, but this one turned out to be an excellent pairing with the meat.
We had a succulent, tender, and freshly flavored grass-fed Florentine steak, accompanied by a baked potato and gratinated endive with bread on top—very flavorful. To finish, a Sacher torte where the cocoa was the real star. We also tried the homemade cantucci, and honestly, they were among the best I've ever eaten.
The kind of osteria where you enter by chance... and leave already thinking about when you'll be back.

Excellent dinner at this osteria. High-quality Florentine steak, very good desserts. The wait staff is courteous and discreet. We'll definitely be back to try the first courses and other dishes.

After a long day exploring Florence's historic streets, I found this welcoming osteria and enjoyed a truly mouthwatering meal. The Tuscan raw beef tartare with bread was finely minced and dressed with peppery olive oil—silky and flavourful, perfect for spreading on crusty bread. The handmade potato and meat ravioli followed, with tender pasta enclosing creamy potato and savoury filling in a light sauce that highlighted every ingredient.
The restaurant was busy with locals, making me the only tourist and adding to the authentic feel. The portions were satisfying, the bill came to about €50 , and the staff offered friendly, professional service. It's a standout spot worth visiting, especially after a tiring day

I loved it. Small and cozy. The decor and atmosphere make you want to stay. The service was outstanding. And the price was very reasonable. Plus, they offer complimentary shots. You couldn't ask for more.

I had lunch with friends visiting Florence in May 2025. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable.

After a misunderstanding regarding our reservation, we were nevertheless offered a table. Luckily for us, because it was truly the best restaurant we tried in Florence! Special mention for the picci alla senese, one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had.

We ordered two entrees because they were so good we forgot to take a photo the first time. The chef was amazing, the staff was kind and professional. The food was top-notch. Highly recommended. Greetings from the couple at table number 10.

We had pici cacio e pepe, pappardelle with ragù, and sliced beef with arugula, parmesan, and potatoes. Everything was excellent, nothing to complain about. Many compliments!
